Here’s a simple way to create a shortcut on your device that acts like a chat assistant, giving you quick responses similar to ChatGPT. Follow these steps to set it up:
1. Open the Shortcuts app on your device.
2. Create a new shortcut.
3. Add the “Ask for Input” action. Change the input type to “Text” and give it a prompt like “Enter your request.”
4. Add the “Use Model” action. Look for the icon that has the Apple Intelligence logo. This will enable the shortcut to process your request using the AI model.
5. Insert the “Show Alert” action. Set it to display the response from the model, using a variable that stores the AI’s answer.
6. Wrap all these actions in a loop that repeats many times, such as 99,999, to keep the process running until you decide to stop. Keep the “Cancel” option on the input prompt so you can exit when needed.
7. Return to the main page of the Shortcuts app. Right-click on your created shortcut and select “Add to Dock” for easy access.
8. To customize the shortcut’s appearance, locate the app in your Applications folder by opening Finder, navigating to your home folder, then going to Applications. Drag the shortcut to your desktop.
9. If you want, you can change the icon and name: right-click the shortcut, choose “Get Info,” click on the icon in the top left, and paste a new image to personalize it.
This setup essentially bypasses Siri’s web search feature and directly interacts with the AI model, giving you quick, chat-like responses. It’s a handy way to get instant answers that feel similar to chatting with ChatGPT.
