When Roborock launches a new product, it’s always a thrilling event. The brand has crafted a loyal community among robot vacuum fans, consistently delivering cutting-edge technology. The Saros 10R exemplifies this expertise.
This robust device follows the unveiling of the Saros Z70 at CES 2025, which features an innovative robotic arm. While the 10R may not boast such groundbreaking capabilities, it incorporates the same advanced navigation system and various minor improvements over previous models. Despite its higher price and slightly lower suction compared to the Saros 10 (set to release on February 10), these are minor drawbacks for an otherwise exceptional home assistant.
Small Improvements, Big Impact
Compared to the older Qrevo Slim, the Saros 10R implements numerous small yet impactful enhancements. For reduced tangling, it now includes a two-arm side brush and its main brush uses a DuoDivide design to better collect hair. This design previously debuted on the Qrevo Curv and continues to impress in the Saros 10R.
Among my favorite features is the robot’s ability to automatically detach its mopping pads while vacuuming, leaving them in the docking station. While this setting isn’t enabled by default, activating it takes mere moments in the app. The 10R also offers more suction than the Qrevo Slim, ensuring it can dig deep into carpets to extract dust and debris.
This model includes all essential features expected from a premium robot vacuum: a comprehensive docking station for maintenance, a smartphone app to adjust its performance settings, and a compartment for a cleaning solution cartridge for effective hard floor cleaning. The docking design has also been refined, showcasing a reflective surface that exudes luxury while remaining user-friendly.
Introducing StarSight Autonomous System 2.0
The Saros 10R features the innovative StarSight Autonomous System 2.0, a first in the realm of Roborock vacuums. This new navigation system was showcased in the Saros Z70 at CES 2025 and has proven to be exceptionally effective at navigating your home.
Whether it’s avoiding obstacles like toys or cords, or getting remarkably close to walls and corners, the Saros 10R showcases impressive maneuverability. Although it’s not perfect (certain cable colors can confuse it, especially on plush carpets), it represents a significant advancement. Notably, it didn’t try to climb objects, eliminating the need for frequent rescues during my tests.
The robot responds swiftly to unexpected obstructions, such as when my dog walked in its path or I entered the kitchen while it was mopping. Furthermore, StarSight technology allows for a slimmer profile, enabling it to fit beneath furniture that was previously hard to reach.
Overall, the enhanced navigation of the Saros 10R considerably boosts its overall performance.
Set It and Forget It
When selecting a robot vacuum, it’s crucial to assess its ability to operate independently. If you find yourself constantly changing filters, replacing dustbags, or rescuing it from being stuck, it’s likely not the right choice.
The Saros 10R is designed for autonomy; its advanced navigation minimizes entrapment issues often seen in competing models. Additionally, with a 4L clean water tank, a 3L dirty water tank, and a 2.5L dustbag, it can function for extended periods without the need for manual intervention.
While the frequency of tank refills and dustbag changes is subjective—depending on how often the robot is used and the size of your home—smaller living spaces should enjoy over a week of hassle-free operation before needing any maintenance. The dustbag itself may take several weeks or even months before it requires replacement.
Add to this the convenience of a docking station that automatically cleans and dries the mopping pads, eliminating odors from the robot. After cleaning, the station even rinses itself to remove any residues left by the mops.
You won’t need to follow up with a traditional vacuum, as both vacuuming and mopping capabilities of the Saros 10R are excellent. Its swinging side arm and DuoDivide brush effectively reach tight corners, and it performed exceptionally on the plush carpets in my home.
The mopping feature, when utilizing the SmartPlan AI, expertly determines the ideal amount of water for the mopping pads for optimal cleaning. While you can adjust these settings manually, using the AI often yields the best results.
Conclusion
The Roborock Saros 10R stands out as one of the top robot vacuums I’ve had the pleasure of testing. This model represents a notable evolution in the world of robot vacuums, delivering improvements that translate into tangible everyday performance. The StarSight navigation system efficiently mapped my living space and adeptly avoided obstacles, and its low profile allowed it to clean hard-to-reach areas missed by other vacuums. The powerful suction ensures great performance across all carpet types while the ability to leave mops in the docking station while vacuuming is a game-changer, keeping my carpets dry.
It’s worth noting, however, that mops can still touch the tips of carpets when this feature is disabled, meaning homes with a mix of carpet and hard floors should adjust this setting promptly. Despite having slightly lower suction than the Saros 10 (20,000 Pa vs. 22,000 Pa), the 10R still delivered impressive performance throughout testing.
Priced at around $1,600, this robot vacuum is at the higher end of the market. However, given its power, precision, and autonomous capabilities, those looking to simplify their floor cleaning will find a lot to admire in Roborock’s latest offering.
