Ecovacs released the Deebot X8 Pro Omni earlier this year, introducing an innovative roller mop system that set a new standard for mopping performance in robotic vacuums. Now, just a few months later, the company has unveiled its successor—the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni. This model enhances everything we appreciated about the X8, including a new mop-lifting mechanism, upgraded vacuuming technology, and an impressive anti-tangle design that prevents hair and debris from clogging the brushes.
If you need a robot vacuum designed specifically for meticulous cleaning of hard floors, the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni is an excellent choice. Though it’s not flawless, minor drawbacks aside, this premium model would be a valuable addition to any smart home.
Exceptional Mopping Technology
Having tested numerous robot vacuums, I can confidently say that the Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni delivers one of the finest mopping experiences available. Featuring what’s called “OZMO Roller Mopping Technology,” this vacuum employs a large roller brush beneath it. A set of sprayers continuously moistens the mop to guarantee an even clean, while a scraper removes dirty water from its surface. The result is impressively clean floors, as it applies 3,700 Pa of pressure and rolls at speeds reaching 220 rpm, effectively tackling almost any stain or spill.
Ecovacs has equipped the X9 Pro Omni with additional features that enhance its functionality. One highlight is the triple-lift system, which retracts the mop, main brush, and side brush based on the cleaning task. When a spill is detected, both mops retract to stay clean, and when carpet is identified, the mop lifts up, keeping the carpet dry. Moreover, the “Carpet First” option enables the vacuum to navigate your home, cleaning carpets first before transitioning to mopping.
Vacuuming and Maintenance Features
Interestingly, the X9 Pro Omni has slightly reduced suction power compared to the X8 Pro Omni, dropping from 18,000 Pa to 16,600 Pa. However, its vacuuming efficiency remains outstanding, thanks to the BOAST technology—short for “Boosted Large-Airflow Suction Technology.” This system combines suction with enhanced airflow to loosen dust and debris, making it easier to capture particles without requiring excessive force.
In practice, this approach works remarkably well. It effectively handles not only dust and small debris but also larger dirt clumps. The vacuum leaves behind clean lines on plush carpets, providing a fresh look that many will appreciate. While the side brush doesn’t extend like some competitors, its superior navigation ensures it manages corners and tight spaces effectively.
One of the best features is the onboard AI, which can automatically optimize settings for an excellent cleaning performance. While numerous manual adjustments are available via the mobile app, I often find the robot’s automated decisions yield the best results.
Once the cleaning cycle concludes, the robot returns to its dock to charge and self-clean. The dock cleans the mop with hot water, uses heated air to dry it, and can even release a cleaning solution into the robot’s water tank for enhanced mopping. Additionally, the dustbin empties into a larger dustbag located in the dock, giving you 90 days of use before needing a replacement. The dock also takes care of cleaning itself, flushing away any debris collected during the cleaning session, providing incredible autonomy.
Final Thoughts
The Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni has a lot going for it, making it an easy choice for most consumers. It’s particularly well-suited for homes with primarily hard floors. Nonetheless, there are a couple of limitations to consider. For one, it does not allow the mop to stay in the docking station. While it raises the mop for carpet cleaning, many users may find the auto-detachable mops from competing models like the Roborock Saros 10 to be a more sophisticated solution.
Additionally, the X9 Pro Omni is a bit large at 3.8 inches in height, making it taller than several competing models. While it can generally clean under most furniture, tighter spaces may pose a challenge for it to fit underneath.
These concerns are relatively minor in the grand scheme of things. The Ecovacs Deebot X9 Pro Omni demonstrates that the brand competes well with market leaders, offering an exceptional mopping experience unmatched by most rivals, along with an effective vacuuming system, a self-cleaning dock, and advanced onboard AI. It stands out as one of the top robot vacuums available in 2025.
