“The Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach effortlessly tackles various messes, although it may not feel as upscale as some of its rivals.”

  • Lie-flat design
  • Exceptional cleaning performance
  • No-tangle technology
  • Self-cleaning dock

Cons

  • Lacks some premium features
  • Self-propulsion can be overly aggressive

“Why you can trust Digital Trends – With a 20-year history of testing and reviewing products, services, and apps, we help you make informed purchasing decisions. Discover more about our testing and scoring processes.”

The Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach Wet and Dry Vacuum is a versatile cleaning device. With a suction power of 18,000 Pa, it’s a formidable vacuum. Its self-cleaning roller is continuously rinsed during use, ensuring effective mopping results. The lie-flat design allows you to clean under most furniture easily. After cleaning, the dock simplifies maintenance, keeping your hands clean and eliminating the hassle of dealing with dirty water.

However, despite its many strengths, there are a few points that may make it less appealing. Priced at $550, it is on the higher end of the market, especially with strong competition nearby. During testing, I encountered a few minor frustrations that made me hesitate, particularly in light of its price. The Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach is a strong contender for cleaning hard floors, but you may have to adjust to some peculiarities if you decide to bring it home.

A Versatile Wet and Dry Vacuum

Before delving into the nitty-gritty, it’s essential to highlight the Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach’s exceptional cleaning capabilities on hard surfaces. Designed specifically for tile, wood, and laminate floors, this vacuum delivers an impressive suction power that meets daily cleaning demands. Whether addressing stubborn stains or spilled grains, it handles them all effectively. Though it comes with cleaning detergent, you’ll have to manually mix it into the clean water reservoir since the H12 lacks an auto-dispensing feature.

One of my favorite aspects of this vacuum is the Smart Mode. It offers four operational modes (Turbo, Suction, Quiet, Smart), and I typically left it in Smart Mode. This allows the vacuum to automatically adjust suction and water output based on its sensors, simplifying your chores. If necessary, Turbo Mode also provides an extra cleaning boost.

Many users will appreciate the 180-degree lie-flat design, allowing the vacuum to rest completely flat, with a height of just 14 cm — perfect for accessing tight areas under various furniture. It boasts a rollerball halfway up the vacuum for enhanced maneuverability in this position.

When you’re ready to clean, a large LED display shows the remaining battery life and current mode, giving the H12 a refined appearance and helping you plan your cleaning sessions more effectively.

Once finished, the included docking station manages most maintenance tasks, such as washing and drying the roller mop and internal piping of the vacuum. All you need to do is empty the dirty water tank and refill the clean water tank, which is designed for easy emptying and separation of solids and liquids to avoid clogs.

The dock offers two drying modes: Quiet Mode, which includes a four-minute heated wash followed by a 30-minute drying cycle, and Super-Speed Mode, which runs a seven-minute wash followed by a quick five-minute drying session. Additionally, it charges your vacuum, providing around 50 minutes of cleaning per charge.

Minor Quirks Keep It from Being Top-Tier

Despite its many positives, the Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach has a few shortcomings. One noticeable issue is the aggressive self-propulsion system. While it allows the vacuum to move forward without manual assistance, it tends to go too fast, forcing me to resist it on tougher stains.

This self-propulsion feature only moves the vacuum forward, so if you try to maneuver it like a traditional vacuum, by pushing and pulling, you’ll find yourself struggling against it. After recently testing a competitor, I noticed their model offered smoother movement in both directions.

Another unexpected frustration involved the water reservoir. Detaching it takes considerable force, and since there’s no latch or lock to press, I initially worried I had damaged the vacuum. Some brands utilize a simple lock mechanism that allows for a smoother removal. However, this model requires a more awkward motion to detach, which was disappointing for a product in this price range.

Additionally, it lacks an auto-dispensing detergent feature usually found in some other vacuums, requiring you to mix water and detergent manually. While not a dealbreaker, in the $550 price bracket, such conveniences would be appreciated.

Conclusion

Overall, the Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach Wet and Dry Vacuum offers solid performance. It cleans exceptionally well, has an attractive design, and its lie-flat capability adds versatility. The self-cleaning dock is an excellent addition, minimizing the tasks involved in mopping. However, in a competitive market, it falls short in several areas that could elevate it. If you encounter it on sale, it might be worthwhile. But at its standard price of $550, consider other wet and dry vacuums that may serve you better. A look at quality robot vacuum and mop combos could also be beneficial, as they provide more automation and, in some cases, may be slightly more affordable than the Dreame H12 Pro FlexReach.
