In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, the character Henry sometimes finds himself in situations beyond his usual role. In the quest titled The Lion’s Den, you assume the identity of a Praguer soldier tasked with infiltrating the enemy camp. During this mission, you also investigate the murder of Chertan, another soldier.
As you delve into the investigation, you’ll need to take part in a trial to determine who is responsible for the soldier’s death. It’s crucial to be ready before the trial begins. Failing certain skill checks can lead to the murder being blamed on you, ending in your character’s death.
Who Killed Chertan?
Most of the quest is straightforward. After you connect with the leader and join the Praguers, follow the objectives. Speak to Musa for information about the poison used to kill Chertan, and investigate the tents of the four suspects to gather evidence.
During your search, you’ll discover that both Grozav and Crow have items in their tents that could be used for poisoning someone. You can accuse either of them, but it’s wise to choose one and build a solid case to support your accusation.
It’s advisable to accuse Crow of killing Chertan, as the evidence strongly indicates his guilt.
How to Complete the Lion’s Den Trial
When you enter the trial, keep in mind that failing three skill checks results in being blamed for the murder and ultimately leads to a game over.
At the start of the trial, you can support Musa when the soldiers express doubts about him. Although you’re advised to stay silent, you will have an opportunity to explain why you believe he’s innocent.
You will then be asked who you think the murderer is: Lord Grozav of Borumlaca or Corporal Stephen Crow. Choosing Crow is recommended. After making your choice, follow these dialogue prompts:
- Crow went to kill Chertan.
- Crow poisoned the wine while Musa wasn’t watching.
- You concocted a potion called Kiss of Death.
The confrontation with Crow will conclude with him fighting you until he is defeated. After the quest wraps up, you’ll have gained the friendship of the Praguer leader, which will aid the plans you and Zizka have set in motion.
