Getting the Vulture Armor Set in Divinity: Original Sin 2
Divinity: Original Sin 2 encourages exploration and loot collection, and one of the most sought-after gear sets is the Vulture Armor. This armor not only enhances your character’s abilities but also comes from the quest Keep Calm and Carrion, where players are tasked with collecting five unique pieces.
The Vulture Armor is particularly beneficial for ranged characters using finesse, making it ideal for rogues as well. To begin your journey, first locate a book titled Dwarven Customs and Traditions, found in Judge Orivand’s study at Fort Joy. This book provides essential guidance on how to craft the Vulture Armor.
How to Obtain the Vulture Armor Set
1. Defeat the Guardian of Powerful Gear
Your next objective within the Keep Calm and Carrion quest leads you to Reaper’s Coast, specifically at coordinates X:218, Y:33. To summon Duna’s Undertaker at Mordus’ Excavation Site, you need to craft a Source Infused Meat by combining Raw Mutton, Source Orb, and Earth Essence.
When summoned, Duna’s Undertaker proves to be a formidable opponent. Not only does it fight fiercely, but it also calls forth Decomposing (Undead) Dwarves to assist in battle. Each summoned enemy wields potent lightning-based attacks that can quickly overwhelm an unprepared party.
Tip: It’s best to be at least Level 15 before facing Duna’s Undertaker and its minions. Familiarize yourself with Mordus’ Excavation Site, as the battlefield has numerous environmental elements that can be used strategically by both sides.
Once you’ve triumphed over Duna’s Undertaker and its cohorts, you will receive Cursed Vulture Feathers, the crafting component required to create the Vulture armor set. To eliminate the curse, drop the feathers on the ground and cast Bless on them. Alternatively, you can bless the armor once it’s crafted and equipped.
In order to craft the Vulture set, combine the Vulture Feathers (whether cursed or cured) with leather armor. The pieces required are:
- The Vulture’s Talons (boots)
- The Vulture’s Legs (leggings)
- The Vulture’s Mantle (chest armor)
- The Vulture’s Mask (helmet)
- The Vulture’s Claws (gloves)
While you can wear individual pieces, equipping the entire set grants significant bonuses. These include permanent flight, +4m range for ranged attacks, immunity to Blinding, increased damage on hit, as well as access to the Vulture’s Prayer and Dust Blast skills. Although not the absolute best armor in Divinity: Original Sin 2, the unique benefits make it well worth pursuing.
Peaceful Acquisition of the Vulture Armor Set in Act 2
2. Avoid a Dangerous Fight by Speaking Wisely
Interestingly, you can get the Vulture Armor without combat with Duna’s Undertaker by opting for diplomacy. Instead of resorting to battle, you can appease the Undertaker by following specific actions outlined in the previously mentioned book.
Find the excerpt detailing how to placate Duna’s Undertaker in the Witch House located north of Driftwood at X:367, Y:227. Here, you’ll learn the order of actions required for negotiation.
When interacting with Duna’s Undertaker, choose these dialogue options:
- "Tell the creature that you are here to receive this blessing."
- "Bow with your arms outstretched."
- "Quietly request its blessing."
- "Say that you intend to save the souls of the fallen."
If executed correctly, your party will gain Blessed Vulture Feathers, which are also used to craft the Vulture armor set, but without any curse attached. Given the full potential of the Vulture armor set in Divinity: Original Sin 2, this peaceful approach is significantly easier as it spares you from the challenge of a tough confrontation.
