How to Unlock When You Fwish Upon a Fish

To start the quest When You Fwish Upon a Fish, you need to meet certain criteria. First, you must achieve level eight friendship with Hangyodon, who is the quest-giver for this task. Additionally, you’ll need to complete two other quests first, each with specific requirements:

Fortunately, completing these quests is fairly straightforward, so you should be able to finish them quickly. Once you’ve completed the quests and reached the necessary friendship level with Hangyodon, the quest When You Fwish Upon a Fish will become accessible.

How to Complete When You Fwish Upon a Fish

With the quest unlocked, it’s time to find Hangyodon. He will be located at the Fwishing Well, which is positioned just south of the central Spooky Swamp mailbox. You may have passed by this fountain several times before without realizing its importance.

If you’re unsure of the well’s location, check your map for Hangyodon’s icon.

After speaking with Hangyodon, he will instruct you to talk to Badtz-maru. Head over to the docks at the Seaside Resort where Badtz-maru is located. Hangyodon will accompany you, and during this conversation, you will be tasked with catching and donating five fish.

You can catch fish from anywhere on the map. A good spot is off the docks slightly south of Badtz-maru; there’s also a fishing area located in the Spooky Swamp, just north of the central mailbox. Once you’ve gathered five fish, return to the Fwishing Well.

Tip: It is advisable to catch six fish because Hangyodon will later ask for one to be donated. This way, you’ll have one extra fish on hand, preventing you from needing to return to the water.

Donating Fish at the Fwishing Well

Once you have your fish, interact with the Fwishing Well and select the five fish to donate. After confirming your donation, you will receive some Fwish Furniture. In our example, we received the Fwish Mirror.

After donating the fish, Hangyodon will also want to take part, so make sure to give him one fish for the well. This step completes the quest!

How to Use the Fwishing Well

You may wonder what types of fish you can donate and what rewards you can expect. You can donate any fish in the game. As long as it is classified as a fish in your inventory, you can throw it into the well.

Keep in mind: Donating a fish does not guarantee a reward. According to the developers, you need a cumulative score of ten points to earn a reward. Regular fish are worth one point, while rare fish are valued at two points.

Although it’s possible that the rules aren’t entirely consistent, donating more fish at once seems to improve your chances of receiving an item. However, acquiring any piece of Fwish furniture is already quite rare. Some players report a slightly increased chance of earning smaller pieces from the Fwish furniture set, like the Fwish Plant or Fwish Nightstand.
