With the Wonderland Whimsy update, Alice in Wonderland made its debut in Disney Dreamlight Valley, bringing along Alice and the enigmatic Cheshire Cat. However, unlocking Alice isn’t as straightforward as it seems, as the Cheshire Cat isn’t easily persuaded to join the fun, setting off a series of quirky, time-gated missions.
Each week following the update, a new Cheshire Cat quest would be launched, requiring players to wait a full week to access the next one. The final quest became available on May 7, 2025, allowing all players to finally unlock the Cheshire Cat without any further delay.
Complete The Alice In Wonderland Realm & Unlock Alice
The Cheshire Cat Remains Stuck In His Realm Until Alice Is Welcomed
While some characters like Princess Jasmine and Aladdin are unlocked together in Disney Dreamlight Valley, the same isn’t true for Alice and the Cheshire Cat. After unlocking the realm—costing 15,000 Dreamlight—players must find Alice, guided by the Cheshire Cat’s hints. Once you conquer one of the toughest realms in the game, Alice is ready to be welcomed.
Once Alice is in the valley at her request, the Cheshire Cat will make his entrance, but in a rather unusual way. He’ll essentially join without your help, and you won’t be able to locate him right away. Instead, strange occurrences will start manifesting, with the first happening inside Scrooge McDuck’s store. Be sure to check there to kick off the process of unlocking the Cheshire Cat.
How To Complete “Mannequin Madness” Quest
Rid Scrooge’s Store Of The Strange Mannequins
Once you enter Scrooge’s store after the Cheshire Cat’s arrival, you’ll encounter a rather eerie mannequin. This mannequin, grinning oddly, stands in the center of the shop. After a chat with Scrooge, you’ll learn that not only has it appeared, but there’s also debris scattered around. Clean up the mess by interacting with it, then speak to Scrooge again.
Scrooge will suggest talking to Alice about the mannequin, who will reveal that the Cheshire Cat might be behind this mischief. You’ll need to interact with the mannequin repeatedly until it stops coming back. Finally, it will drop a purple document, a valuable coupon. Pick it up and show it to Scrooge.
Note that the previous waiting period after this quest has been removed as of May 7, 2025.
This coupon allows you to buy Purple Cat Ears and Cheshire Cat Slippers from Scrooge’s store for a total of 2,300 Star Coins. Don’t forget to equip both items after you purchase them. Once equipped, talk to Alice again; she’ll mention that the Cheshire Cat seems hesitant to move in, so keep your eyes peeled.
How To Complete “Chaos In the Kitchen” Quest
Help Remy Clean Up The Cheshire Cat’s Mess In Chez Remy
After finishing the mannequin quest, you can dive straight into the next one called Chaos in the Kitchen. Head over to Chez Remy to find a stressed-out Remy and some glowing purple paw prints. The Cheshire Cat has caused quite a ruckus in the restaurant, and Remy needs your help tidying up. You’ll need to clean each paw print by following them until you find the interaction spot.
Once all the paw prints are cleared, a recipe book will appear on the ground. Collect it and read through your inventory to learn the recipe for Cheshire Cat Tail, a delightful new 4-star dessert. Prepare this dish at the cooking station in Remy’s restaurant. Simply go to the quest tab to find it quickly. You’ll need 1 Cocoa Bean, 1 Egg, 1 Sugarcane, and 1 Wheat.
Cocoa Beans can be gathered from trees in the Sunlit Plateau or Glade of Trust, Eggs can be bought from Remy, Sugarcane can be cultivated or purchased from Goofy on Dazzle Beach, and Wheat can also be grown or bought from Goofy in the Peaceful Meadow. Don’t forget to check Wall-E’s garden too.
After preparing the dish, present it to Remy, who will then ask you to check outside the restaurant for more chaos. As expected, there’s more disarray, and you’ll need to clean up the piles of chairs around the restaurant before heading back inside. This time, the Cheshire Cat will formally show up, although he still isn’t ready to settle down just yet. Speak to Remy again after the Cheshire Cat disappears to complete this quest.
How To Complete “Cat Tree Catastrophe” Quest
You’ll Need To Get Cheshire Catfish To Continue
Now that the second quest is complete, it’s time for the final task. Instead of heading to a specific spot, you simply need to find and chat with Moana. She’ll lead you to her boat, where strange purple catfish are popping up. Take a picture of the catfish after you talk with her, and they will disappear.
Moana will then ask you to fish around Dazzle Beach for more catfish. You’ll need to catch 5 Cheshire Catfish, which appear in orange fishing spots. Once you have them, give the fish to Alice, who will take you to her villager house. Inside, you’ll finally meet the Cheshire Cat, who’s all set to move in but requires assistance with his tree first. You’ll be instructed to snap a photo of it, which is easy to find.

Just in time for May the 4th, Disney Dreamlight Valley has gotten a Star Wars update to its Premium Store, featuring outfits for Anakin and Padme.
Head to Alice’s house, and navigate to the bedroom where you will find a picture of the Cheshire Cat’s tree on the wall partially hidden by a curtain. Snap a photo of it, which will turn it into a collectible item. Pick up the tree, go outside the house, and find a spot to place it. Though it’s in your inventory, place it from the furniture menu, where it will appear full-sized.
After you place the tree, approach it to see the Cheshire Cat appear on one of its branches. After chatting with him, you’ll discuss welcoming him to the valley, though he won’t get the usual welcome animation by the fountain, making him one of the first villagers to break this tradition. This wraps up the Cat Tree Catastrophe quest, allowing you to interact with the Cheshire Cat as a villager at last.
All Cheshire Cat Friendship Rewards
Unlock Strange Curiosities By Friending The Cheshire Cat
Once you unlock the Cheshire Cat, you’ll be able to enjoy all the perks that come with a new villager. To kick things off, you must raise his friendship level to 2 in order to receive the first friendship quest, Furniture Fluster, and invite him to hang out. This can be accomplished easily by talking to him initially and then gifting him one of his favorite items for the day. Upon reaching level 2, you’ll unlock the first of his friendship rewards and get to choose his activity bonus.
Just a heads-up, while the game alerts you of this, keep in mind that the Cheshire Cat’s hangouts are distinct. Unlike other villagers who follow you closely, the Cheshire Cat will frequently disappear to tend to his own affairs, but you will still receive his bonuses until you dismiss him.
In terms of rewards, just like Alice, the Cheshire Cat brings a collection of intriguing and quirky items. This includes unique pieces of furniture, motifs, wallpapers, and themed clothing. Remember, most rewards unlock at various levels, but the final reward won’t be available until you complete the last friendship quest, On A Wild Cheshire Chase.
For those eagerly anticipating the uncrafting station—a highly sought-after feature in the Wonderland Whimsy update—this will only be available as part of the level 7 friendship quest. You’ll need to boost his friendship level to 7 and finish the initial two friendship quests to access it.
