Marvel Rivals showcases a strong competitive spirit, encouraging players to do everything possible to secure victories. As new tactics, playstyles, and ideas continuously emerge, striving for wins in Quickplay might feel somewhat unfulfilling.
This is where the Competitive playlist steps in. It offers the same maps and modes as Quickmatches but introduces a greater level of stakes. With everyone giving their all in each match, those exhilarating moments are elevated even higher.
How to Access the Competitive Playlist
Getting into the Competitive playlist is straightforward but requires some time investment. You must reach level 10 before you can participate in Competitive matches. However, with the wide array of characters in Marvel Rivals, it’s likely that you won’t fully master many of them by that time.
It’s important to note that there are no placement matches in Marvel Rivals. Once you hit level 10, you can jump right into Competitive, starting off at the lowest rank: Bronze III.
Can You Compete with Friends?
Yes, you can play Competitive matches with friends, but there’s a catch: everyone in your group needs to be in adjacent ranks. For example, if you are in Gold and your friend is in Platinum, you’re good to go. However, if you’re in Gold and your friend is in Diamond, you won’t be able to play Competitive together, but you can still enjoy Quickplay matches.
Also, Bronze and Silver counts as one rank category, meaning that a Gold-ranked player can team up with someone in Bronze.
How Is Ranking Determined?
Your rank is based on your win/loss record. Winning earns you points toward the next rank, while losing will deduct points. Every rank, up until Eternity, consists of three tiers, and you need to work through each tier—totaling 100 points per tier—to advance.
Understanding Chrono Shields
Losing does not always mean you will drop in rank immediately. The game provides Chrono Shields as a buffer, preventing you from demoting right away. However, once your Chrono Shields are gone, a series of losses could send you back down a rank. These shields ensure that players do not fall back right after achieving a new rank, though they won’t protect you indefinitely.
Ranks and Their Rewards
Marvel Rivals features eight different ranks, and players will start receiving rewards once they reach Gold rank. Here’s a quick rundown of the ranks and corresponding rewards:
Rank | Reward |
---|---|
Bronze III-I | n/a |
Silver III-I | n/a |
Gold III-I | Golden Moonlight Costume (Moon Knight) |
Platinum III-I | Golden Moonlight Costume (Moon Knight) |
Diamond III-I | Golden Moonlight Costume (Moon Knight) |
Grandmaster III-I | Golden Moonlight Costume (Moon Knight) + Silver Crest Of Honor (Nameplate Border) |
Eternity | Golden Moonlight Costume (Moon Knight) + Silver Crest Of Honor (Nameplate Border) |
One Above All | Golden Moonlight Costume (Moon Knight) + Gold Crest Of Honor (Nameplate Border) |
The Special Ranks: Eternity and One Above All
The Eternity and One Above All ranks work differently. They do not have tiers; instead, your goal is simply to accumulate as many competitive points as possible after reaching Eternity. Throughout the season, you can achieve the rank of Eternity, but only the top 500 players will receive the One Above All rank at the end of the season, along with its exclusive rewards.
Competitive Modes
The Competitive Modes mirror those found in Quickmatches, with the exception of the Escort type modes known as Convoy and Convergence. In Competitive, both teams will have the opportunity to play as attackers and defenders. The first team to escort will set a benchmark that the second team must equal or surpass within the same timeframe. If the second team fails to reach the same distance, they lose. However, the moment they push the objective even slightly further, the match concludes, awarding victory to that team.
With all these features, Marvel Rivals provides a rich competitive environment where teamwork and skill truly determine success.
