As the festive season approaches, it’s time for the annual "Gift of Giving" event in Disney Dreamlight Valley. This year, which begins on December 18, 2024, and lasts until December 31, 2024, features some familiar elements along with exciting new surprises for players to explore. Mark your calendars, as you’ll have ample time to engage in the festivities!
You won’t need to update your game for this year’s Gift of Giving event, as it is part of the Sew Delightful update that introduced Sally into Disney Dreamlight Valley. Simply log in after the event starts, and you’ll see a letter from the developers in your inbox confirming the launch.
How to Join in the Gift of Giving Event
Gather Festive Wrapping Paper & Gift Your Favorite Villagers
Once the event kicks off, you’ll notice Festive Wrapping Paper appearing near Scrooge’s Shop. Keep in mind that only four pieces can spawn at once, so make sure to collect them quickly to encourage more to appear.
If you have saved any wrapping paper from prior holiday seasons, now is a great time to put it to use! With the Festive Wrapping Paper, you can craft four different types of gifts: Delicious, Handcrafted, Naughty, and Shiny Gifts. While you don’t need all of them to complete the event objectives, having at least ten gifts of any combination is essential, and each type requires specific materials. You can find the crafting recipes in the Functional Items tab.

Remember that if you didn’t complete the holiday tasks in previous years, you can still find and finish them in the Village section if you have the needed materials.
In addition to gathering Festive Wrapping Paper and crafting gifts, explore the various fishing spots in the main valley to find Festive Fish. These limited-time fish appear only during the Gift of Giving event, so be sure to catch them before January 1st.

Each type of fish is adorned with a tiny Santa Hat and can only be caught once during the event. They will only appear in festive red and green bubble fishing areas, so you’ll know where to look!
This year’s event also introduces a new quest where players can build a unique Mad Hatter Snowman. To begin this task, search the plaza for a red treasure chest that looks similar to those containing moonstones. Upon interacting with this chest, you’ll gain access to a crafting recipe crafted from various ingredients, which you’ll need to gather.
The construction of your snowman involves three stages:
- Stage 1: 50x Snowballs
- Stage 2: 18x Dandelions, 4x Hardwood, 23x Fabric
- Stage 3: 10x Green Passion Lillies, 15x Fabric, 1x Carrot
After assembling all the required materials and interacting with the giant snowball in Frosted Heights, you will create the colorful Mad Hatter Snowman for your collection. This festive decoration is one of a kind, but don’t forget to check out the Christmas tree in the castle for additional event rewards available from December 25th to December 31st.
