In Path of Exile 2, Distilled Emotions are a special currency linked to Delirium, combining the effects of Delirium Orbs and Blight Oils. You can use them to Anoint your Amulets with notable Passive Skills and to infuse Delirium Effects into your Waystones for advanced mapping. To acquire them, you’ll need to engage with some Delirium encounters!
Understanding how to effectively utilize Distilled Emotions is essential for optimizing your final builds and enhancing your farming techniques. This guide covers everything you need to know, including how to acquire and utilize Distilled Emotions.
Path of Exile 2 is currently in Early Access. The details in this guide may change as the game evolves.
How to Obtain Distilled Emotions

The main way to collect Distilled Emotions is by running maps with Delirium encounters. These maps are marked with a small white icon on the endgame Atlas. When you enter these maps, you’ll notice the Delirium Fog right away. Your goal is to stay within the Delirium Fog while defeating as many monsters as possible.
As you vanquish enemies, a meter in the bottom-left corner of your screen will fill with rewards. The more rewards you accumulate, the more Distilled Emotions you’ll earn at the end of the encounter. To maximize your gains, try to boost Pack Size, Monster Rarity, and consider adding further encounters that introduce more monsters, such as Ritual or Expedition.
If you find it challenging to spawn Delirium naturally, you can use a basic Precursor Tablet to trigger it.
Trading

If you prefer not to farm Distilled Emotions directly, you can trade for them using the in-game Currency Exchange or the Trade Website. The Currency Exchange becomes accessible after you complete Act 3 on ‘Normal’ difficulty. Once available, interact with Finn, Risu, or Alva in any Settlement.
In the Currency Exchange, select your desired Distilled Emotion in the ‘I Want’ section, and place an Exalted Orb in the ‘I Have’ area. Next, enter the quantity needed, review the current market rate, and consider paying an extra Exalted Orb for a faster transaction. Generally, the Distilled Emotions shouldn’t cost you much in Divine Orb, especially later in the league when many players are farming them.
After completing the trade, your purchased items will appear in the Currency Exchange – just drag them into your inventory to start using them.
If you’re playing in Solo Self-Found mode, remember to use the three-to-one Reforging Bench recipe.
By putting in three identical Distilled Emotions, you will receive an upgraded version. This is especially useful when you have an excess of common Distilled Emotions but want a rarer type.
Trade Websites are much more straightforward (and sometimes less expensive) to navigate. Simply open the website, search for your needed Distilled Emotion, and ensure the Buyout Price at the bottom is set to Exalted Orb. If you require them in significant quantities, consider using the Bulk Item Exchange.
How to Use Distilled Emotions

Distilled Emotions have two main uses: Anointing Amulets and adding Delirium Effects to your Waystones. The process is straightforward, but there are a few important details to consider.
Anoint Amulets

Anointing allows you to gain the benefits of a Notable Passive Skill without needing to allocate it on the Passive Tree. This can be particularly beneficial for endgame builds where you may require a specific Passive Skill but lack sufficient Skill Points to reach it.
For example, Icebreaker is a fantastic Anoint for a Stormweaver Spark build that grants Freeze immunity; however, reaching that passive node would require around ten additional Skill Points.
To Anoint an Amulet, interact with any Distilled Emotion (right-click on PC or press X/Square on consoles) in your inventory to access the Anointing Menu. In this window, place the necessary Distilled Emotions at the bottom and your Amulet at the top.
Remember that the order of the Distilled Emotions can affect the Anoint, so always double-check your selection.
When you are ready, click the ‘Anoint’ button at the bottom to apply your chosen Anoint (the effects of a Notable Passive Skill) to your Amulet. To check the required Distilled Emotions for a Notable Passive Skill at any time, open the Passive Tree, hover over a node, and press Alt (R3 on consoles).
If checking every Notable Passive Skill feels tedious, you can use this Anoint Calculator to view the possible combinations of Distilled Emotions and their effects.
As of the writing of this guide, there is no method to Anoint a Corrupted or Mirrored item. This feature exists in the original Path of Exile, so it’ll likely be added to Path of Exile 2 soon.
Anoint Waystones

In addition to Anointing Amulets, you can also use Distilled Emotions to add various Delirium Effects to your Waystones. This allows you to introduce additional layers of rewards when running these Waystones.
Much like the Amulets, right-click (X/Square on consoles) on any Distilled Emotion to open the Installing Menu. Position your desired Distilled Emotions at the bottom and your non-Corrupted Waystone at the top.
Keep in mind that Delirium Maps are significantly harder, so you will need a robust build to clear them successfully.
