The top battlefield carbines stand out because they work well in many situations, making them some of the most flexible weapons available. Most of these guns fall between submachine guns and assault rifles—arguably the two most popular types in both multiplayer and Redsec modes—and with the right attachments, they can be customized to fit a variety of play styles. Picking the right carbine isn’t just about the stats, since the numbers only tell part of the story. Here’s a list of the best carbines in Battlefield that you should consider trying out.
Most carbines are solid choices in large-scale multiplayer battles, whether you’re playing Conquest, Rush, or Battle Royale. They serve as reliable main weapons. However, they each have different strengths, and while some are better overall, feeling comfortable with a gun matters just as much as its stats. Here are the best options I recommend and believe are worth using:
-
AK-205: Even though the AK-205 doesn’t pack the highest damage per shot, it’s incredibly accurate and easy to control, making it effective at most ranges. Its simple stats make it a great base for customizing attachments, so you can build it to match your preferred style in Battlefield.
-
SOR-300SC: With high damage per shot and good accuracy, the SOR-300SC is a good pick if you like guns that hit hard but have smaller magazines. If you don’t have it from the Season 1 battle pass, alternatives like the M417 A2 or SG 553R can work well. The SOR-300SC is easier to handle because it kicks less and has a slower fire rate, making shooting more consistent.
-
M4A1: Once one of the top guns in Battlefield, the M4A1 isn’t quite as popular now. It still does solid damage, and it boasts the fastest fire rate among carbines. However, it can be tricky to control because of its unpredictable recoil, especially side-to-side movement. If you want something easier to manage, the QBZ-192 is a good substitute right from the start.
For Redsec mode, carbines can be a bit unusual since you’re not limited to just one primary weapon—you can carry two specialized guns. This setup lets you handle enemies at any range, filling in for the weaknesses of a single gun. Since carbines usually have small magazines, every shot counts. Using a secondary weapon can help cover what your carbine can’t do as well.
