In Neverness to Everness, you’ll need a solid lineup of attackers and damage-dealing Espers, but sometimes your fierce fighters require a little extra support. That’s where Edgar comes into play—he’s the small, support character you find at the Eibon Antique Shop, acting as both healer and protector for your teams.
When equipped with the right Arc and Console, Edgar can become one of the most powerful healers in the game. This transformation makes him a highly adaptable teammate, capable of boosting your heavy damage output with exceptional support.
Edgar Overview
As one of the kids hanging around the Eibon Antique Shop in Hethereau—your first stop in Neverness—you’ll meet Edgar, an A-Tier Esper who channels the Cosmos just like your protagonist. When added to your best team setups, he really gets to show off his talents.
He excels at defense and is classified as a Survival character, which means he’s mainly a tank. Using your strongest Liquid arc types for him enhances his abilities even further. While he might only be an A-Tier character, he stands out as one of the top support Espers available.
Thanks to his Skills, Edgar proves to be a strong healer early in the game. He’s straightforward to build and easy to include in your team, making him a great pick from the Scarborough Fair gacha mechanic in NTE.
“Thinks quick, looks like a kid. Is a kid, actually.”
Edgar is a playful, youthful support character whose abilities shine when managed correctly.
Edgar’s Abilities
| Ability | Description |
|---|---|
| Basic Attack: Combat Practice | Performs up to five quick Cosmos Damage attacks. When airborne, pressing Basic Attack causes a plunge attack, dealing area Cosmos Damage based on fall height, up to 100%. |
| Skill: Wild Current | Hold to channel a continuous attack at the target, dealing Cosmos DMG and healing the teammate with the lowest HP. The cooldown increases with longer use. |
| Ultimate: Finnegan’s Wake | Creates a domain that deals AoE Cosmos Damage and gradually heals the current character over its duration. |
| Support Skill: Weight of Knowledge | Charges at the target, swinging his bag to deal Cosmos Damage in an area. |
| Support Skill Enhancements | Includes Charge Enhancement, which grants instant Ultimate Energy when supporting, and Unchanging Warmth, which extends the duration of his ultimate support effects by gaining Keys of Truth. |
Best Arc and Console for Edgar
- Best Arc: Call of the Twisted City increases healing bonus after using Redirect Skills.
- Alternate Arc: Mind Royale grants Instant Ultimate Energy upon casting Redirect, usable every 20 seconds.
- Ideal Console: Thea’s Night Tavern provides +10% HP with a 2-piece bonus, and +20% healing bonus with a 4-piece bonus.
Team Compatibility
Edgar’s primary role as a healer means he’s good on nearly any team. He’s especially effective with Espers like Hathor and Daffodil, who deal most of the damage, with Edgar providing essential healing. If you’re aiming for more budget-friendly options, Mint and Skia can replace the damage dealers while still offering impressive DPS.
Pairing Edgar with Haniel is always a smart choice, because both serve as versatile support characters capable of fitting into various team compositions.
Awakening Effects
Since Edgar is an A-Tier character and often pulled multiple times, upgrading him through the Awakening menu lets you unlock additional effects to improve his performance. Priority should be given to these effects:
- One of the Eibon Detectives: Boosts healing on critically low allies, useful for boss fights.
- Visitor from Planet Curiosity: Adds defensive benefits to nearby teammates.
- Intern Anomaly Hunter: Extends Wild Current’s cooldown-free use.
- Skilled Strategist: Amplifies Wild Current damage and healing.
- Anomaly-Loving Observer: Increases the duration of his ultimate with Keys of Truth.
- Guardian of the Antique Shop’s Light: Adds more HP, helpful for survival.
Maximizing these enhancements will make Edgar an even more reliable and potent support character, capable of turning the tide in tough battles.
