The mission “Schemes of the Secret Smugglers” in The Outer Worlds 2 starts when you access the Fairfield police computer, or if you have the Observation skill, you can find a data pad in a hidden room at the bottom of the lift at the landing pad. Your first step is to investigate the Fairfield Greenhouse and its overseer, Emeline Galloway, who is suspected of being part of a smuggling ring.

At first, you won’t gather much from her, as the conversation ends with an “info not found” message. Some background knowledge about Outer Worlds 2 can unlock extra dialogue options, but the missing info is in the terminal inside Emeline’s house, a small building to the left of the main greenhouse entrance. Check out the messages there to find all the incriminating information you need, then go back and talk to Emeline again.

When confronted with the computer info, she’ll admit she’s part of a faction called Sub Rosa and give you a task to get involved with them. To move forward, you’ll need to gain access to Officer Cardosa’s terminal to delete some records about vodka.

The easiest way to do this is to throw a distraction grenade at the Quartermaster’s terminal. When Cardosa turns to look at it, steal the Replenishment Terminal Key Card from the nearby crate. Alternatively, you can strike up a casual conversation about dropships, asking to see one, which prompts her to leave her post and give you a chance to access the terminal. Skills like Speech 2, Hack 2, or Engineering 2 can also help you get more dialogue options to distract her.

Once she’s distracted, quickly access the terminal and change the inventory for Auntie Fizzo’s Spectrum Vodka to zero cases—nothing suspicious will happen. Afterward, return to Emeline to complete the mission. Completing the task grants you:

– 675 XP
– A light pistol silencer mod
– A crafting recipe for the silencer
– An advanced decryption key
– 350 Bit Cartridge

Additionally, this mission boosts your reputation with Sub Rosa. Be aware that choosing to pursue this quest can influence your standing with other factions, and you might lose this mission if you decide to focus on Fairfield or Westport later on.
