Overwatch 2: Unlocking Abilities, Ultimate Moves, and Playstyle

Overwatch 2 Winston Overwatch 2 Winston

Overwatch 2 features a diverse roster of heroes, each with varying effectiveness in the current meta, and their roles contribute to distinct strategies for team composition.

When forming a team in Overwatch 2, Tanks play a crucial role as they absorb damage and shield the damage dealers from enemy attacks. Among them, Winston stands out as an exceptional hero, renowned for his effectiveness in this capacity.

Teams are limited to a single tank hero, eliminating the option for double-Winston setups. Nevertheless, Winston remains a strong choice thanks to his high mobility on the battlefield, which is particularly beneficial given the solo tank requirement.

Winston’s Abilities

Winston employs the Tesla Cannon as his primary weapon, which features a straightforward secondary fire option but relatively low damage output.

This weapon excels at penetrating shields and can automatically target enemies directly in front of him, as noted by GameRant.

His secondary fire unleashes a ball of electric energy, with the option to hold the fire button to charge a concentrated electric beam. Each shot inflicts 20 damage and consumes up to 12 rounds of ammunition.

The Barrier Projector ability lets Winston create a sizable, dome-shaped shield that absorbs damage for both him and his teammates.

A notable feature of this shield is that it isn’t centered on Winston; it is placed at his feet, allowing it to be strategically positioned on objectives or during escort missions.

Winston’s Jump Pack enables him to propel himself into the air, dealing damage in a small area upon landing. This ability has a moderate cooldown, which makes it usable more frequently, according to GameSpot.

Winston’s Ultimate

The tank hero possesses a straightforward but formidable Ultimate known as Primal Rage. This ability grants him additional health, a boost in movement speed, and an enhancement for his melee attacks, while also reducing the cooldown for Jump Pack, allowing for more frequent use.

However, there is one limitation when activating Winston’s Ultimate: he can only utilize the Jump Pack and melee attack, with no access to his other abilities during this time.

Winston’s Passive

Winston also has a Passive ability called Role: Tank, which minimizes the impact of knockback effects from other heroes. This passive trait is shared among all tank characters in Overwatch 2.

Winston’s Playstyle

When playing Winston in Overwatch 2, focus on disrupting enemies, isolating targets, and dismantling their team. All his abilities are geared toward creating chaos among foes.

While Winston is accessible for beginners, truly mastering his playstyle and effectively timing his abilities can present a challenge.

He is particularly suited for dive compositions that invade enemy territory and target individual heroes, as highlighted by TheGamer.
