The Late Riser side quest in Octopath Traveler 2 involves putting a fisherman to sleep so he can awaken at night to fish. Since he won’t fall asleep on his own, you’ll need to knock him out, which can be quite challenging.
This guide will assist you in finding the quest location and provide strategies for putting the fisherman to sleep.
Finding the Sleepy Fisherman in Octopath Traveler 2
You’ll encounter the sleepy fisherman during “The Late Riser” side quest in Tropu’hopu, located in the Toho’haha region.
How to Finish the Late Riser Quest in Octopath Traveler 2?
To complete the quest, you must challenge the Sleepy Fisherman the moment you spot him and defeat him in front of his boss. You can utilize characters like Throne, Castti, Hikari, or Ochette to achieve this, but each character employs different tactics.
Using Hikari
The most effective way to tackle this quest is with Hikari. Challenge the Sleepy Fisherman right where you find him. During the challenge, use Hikari’s sword to break the fisherman’s 2 shields and defeat him.
Using Ochette
Alternatively, you can choose to provoke the fisherman using Ochette. Additionally, employing Akala in this battle is advisable since the fisherman is particularly weak against bow and sword attacks.
Using Castti
You can also use Castti to calm the fisherman and send him to sleep. However, be aware that you’ll need some rare and costly items to make this work for Castti.
Using Throne
Throne can ambush the fisherman during the night, but this will yield only partial results. The Master Fisherman will express gratitude for putting him to sleep, but he might not wake up at the appropriate time.
Rewards for Completing the Late Riser Quest in Octopath Traveler 2
After successfully putting the fisherman to sleep, the Master Fisherman will reward you with 4,800 leaves and a Slippery Nut(M). Additionally, you’ll learn the fisherman’s Bottoms Up skill.
