Quick Links
From the beginning, the creators of Valorant have made it clear that they won’t be rushing the release of new agents. This means players may experience long waits before new characters appear in the game. However, sometimes even the most anticipated agents don’t live up to expectations.
Fortunately, Tejo is not one of those agents; his abilities are not just exciting but also offer a fresh experience. While there are similarities with other agents, Tejo brings unique elements that truly make him enjoyable to play.
Tejo’s Role in Valorant
Before purchasing a new agent in Valorant, it’s essential to understand their role and the impact it has on gameplay. There are four roles: Sentinel, Duelist, Controller, and Initiator, each offering distinct playstyles and allowing players to tailor their approach based on personal preference.
Tejo fills the Initiator role, designed for agents who start the action. This is crucial on both offense and defense, but Initiators shine during attacks, as they provide vital information about enemy positions on the site.
Tejo’s abilities make him valuable not only in initiating but also in various aspects of gameplay.
Tejo’s Abilities, Explained
Understanding Tejo’s role and playstyle is essential, even if you don’t plan to use him, as it helps you anticipate his moves when he’s on the opposing team. Below are details about Tejo’s abilities:

Tips for Playing Tejo
Even after getting familiar with Tejo’s role and abilities, there are still many details to consider if you want to maximize your effectiveness as him. Understanding his tactics and who he counters can significantly improve your game. Here are some helpful tips:
Tejo Excels in Post-Plant Scenarios
While Tejo can support teammates during entry with his Stealth Drone, it’s often more beneficial to save his missiles for post-plant scenarios. Once your team plants the Spike, you can create significant pressure on the enemies trying to defuse it. They’ll have to clear angles first and, if they attempt to defuse, you can target the Spike with your missiles to force them to move. If you have your Ultimate ready, use it right after to make defusing nearly impossible.
Always Use Both Missiles
When using Tejo, it’s crucial to remember that while he can fire two missiles with the Guided Salvo ability, it only recharges after a full cooldown. Just using one missile is a waste, so always follow up with the second missile to secure an advantageous position or to take out enemy utilities.
Inspect Corners with Your Drone
Using your drone carelessly could lead to disaster if enemies are hiding around the corners. Always make sure to scout corners before sending your drone, as this will help keep your team safe as they advance into enemy territory.
Tejo Is a Threat to Sentinels
Agents like Killjoy and Cypher can be very annoying to play against, as they set up utilities to secure areas while staying far back, often getting free kills. However, Tejo can effectively counter both of them:
- Use your drone to suppress Cypher’s utilities, which neutralizes his traps and gives your teammates a clear entrance.
- Against Killjoy, you can either suppress her or use your missiles to eliminate her deployed gadgets, including her Ultimate ability.
