Once you finish the “Dead Frequency” quest, which is one of the most extensive quests in Stalker 2: Heart of Chornobyl, you’ll move on to “In Search of a Guide.” While this quest is shorter, it’s still quite intricate and can easily lead to confusion, particularly in the latter part.
This mission will require a lot of movement, but it won’t be dull. You are on the hunt for the person who took Skif’s Scanner and Artifact. After taking care of Shterev and copying the data off his laptop, your next step is to locate Nimble. Below, you’ll find a straightforward guide on how to accomplish this.
You can kick off this quest in two different ways, both of which are covered in this article. Feel free to choose either method; the end result will be the same.
In Search Of A Guide – Skadovsk
Once you complete the “Dead Frequency” quest, Faust will reach out to you with information about two locations where you can learn about the guide. These locations are Shevchenko and Skadovsk.
If you decide to visit Skadovsk, board the ship and you will be welcomed, but be sure not to carry any weapons. Once you’re inside, locate Richter and ask him about the guide. While he may not provide specific directions, he will direct you to Trapper, who knows where to find Nimble.
In Search Of A Guide – Shevchenko
If you opt for Shevchenko, again, approach the ship unarmed and find Richter. Start a conversation and inquire about the guide. He’ll likely ramble on about other topics, but eventually, he’ll mention Trapper.
Next, head to the new coordinates on your map; Trapper is your next lead for finding the guide. When you get close to him, he’ll reach out to you via radio, so walk up and ask him about Nimble, the guide you’re seeking.
It’s advisable to use a shotgun during your encounter, as a wave of mutants will charge at you and Trapper, resulting in a close-combat situation. Be sure to stock up on ammo and healing supplies.
Once you’re done talking, he’ll provide you with the coordinates for Nimble. However, be prepared, as a horde of mutants will shortly arrive. Draw your weapon and start dispatching them. There will be many, so stay alert and ensure you have enough healing items on hand.
While you don’t need to assist Trapper, helping him can earn you a significant number of coupons, making it worth your while.
Be cautious not to shoot Trapper; friendly fire is enabled in this game, and you could accidentally harm him.
How To Defeat The Mutated Deer
The Mutated Deer is a tough foe due to its high health. Trapper is capable of protecting himself, which allows you to focus on surviving and dealing with the attacking mutants. Once they’re dealt with, concentrate all your fire on the Deer and try to bring it down quickly.
The Mutated Deer prepares for a stomp by raising its front legs, so be sure to dodge it to avoid losing a significant amount of health.
How To Find Nimble
After aiding Trapper, the coordinates for Nimble will become visible on your map. Make your way toward this point, but be prepared for some zombies, as the area is affected by psi radiation.
If you have psi-block pills, take one, or you can easily defeat the zombies with headshots. Once done, search for the cave entrance and go inside. To find Nimble, take a left and then a right to reach an exit.
As you approach the exit, take a right turn, and a cutscene will trigger. Nimble detonates part of the cave to eliminate some mutants, and after dodging death, Skif realizes that he’s the one who took the Scanner. Things escalate as Skif confronts Nimble with a gun.
You will have two choices: kill Nimble or let him go.
Should You Kill Nimble Or Spare Him?
Sparing Nimble is the better choice, as he can be quite useful. If you choose to spare him, he’ll reveal how to reach Clear Sky and inform you about the need to disable psi-beacons to have any hope of accessing the base.
Killing Nimble means missing out on a considerable number of coupons that you could have obtained; sparing him is wise, especially since he showed mercy to Skif earlier on.
After this, the quest concludes, and you’ll receive coupons as a reward. However, if you decide to kill him, you can loot the map and PDA from his body, which will provide more details about the events surrounding the night he stole your Scanner.
