Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 recently released its first official update to thank players after winning “Game of the Year” in 2025 at The Game Awards. The award was well-deserved and inspired many independent developers worldwide.
The update brings a lot of new content, including new Pictos and Luminas, a highly requested photo mode, and fresh weapons for all playable characters. To access most of these features, players need to go to Verso’s Drafts, a new area east of Lumiere that’s unlocked in Act 3 once Esquie learns how to dive underwater.
All-New Weapons in Verso’s Drafts & How to Get Them
The DLC adds several powerful new weapons that help define builds for each character. Notable weapons include an Esquie-themed set—like Lune’s Esquim and Maelle’s Esqium—and candy-themed weapons such as Bonbim, Licorum, and Sucetton.
| Character | Weapon | Location | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lune | Bonbim | Bought from Najabla merchant near Reverie Path rest point | Lightning element; boosts critical chance with burns, consumes burn for more damage |
| Lune | Cleim | Defeat Clea Unleashed in the Endless Tower | Light element; damage bypasses defenses, doubles damage if Earth, Fire, Ice, and Lightning stains are present |
| Lune | Esquim | Complete Pink Paint Cage downhill from Open Playground | Dark element; damage increases with Stains, can convert all Stains into Dark Stains, exploits with Dark Stains for huge damage |
| Maelle | Esqium | Defeat Chromatic Franctale near the carousel swing area | Fire element; consumes AP to boost damage, applies burn and mark effects |
| Maelle | Licorum | Defeat Chromatic Licorne at the top of the parkour course | Physical element; increases damage per successive hit, applies Mark on first hit |
| Monoco | Baguettaro | Defeat Mime in Verso’s Drafts | Fire element; applies burn, increases damage with Almighty Mask |
| Monoco | Esquiaro | Found at the end of the diving board in Gestral Resort | Earth element; provides shields and reduces damage while in Heavy Mask |
| Sciel | Duollison | Defeat Duollistes in the Endless Tower | Physical element; damage increases with successive hits, uses Foretell mechanics |
| Sciel | Esquion | Found on a cliff while climbing to the Mime | Physical element; manipulates Sun and Moon charges, deals extra damage during Twilight |
| Sucetton | Chromatic Barbasucette | Defeat this enemy | Fire element; generates Sun charges, enhances damage, reduces SP cost for Sun skills |
| Verso | Esquiso | Defeat Osquiro | Light element; grants Aureole when ranked S, better damage when revived, enhances gradient attacks |
| Verso | Sucreso | In the tree house near Gestral Baths | Earth element; improves damage on rank-up, resets on damage, increases damage with rank |
Some weapons require defeating very tough enemies, including new Chromatic foes like Barbasucette, Licorne, and Franctale, who drop unique weapons. Others, like Sucreso and Esquion, are found during exploration, and Bonbim is available for purchase from a merchant near Reverie Path.
Best Weapons in the New DLC
Each character gained some powerful new weapons, significantly changing build strategies. Maelle’s Licorum stands out as a potentially overpowered option for solo mark-based setups, rivaling the popular Lithum weapon. Fire-themed weapons have also been revamped across almost all characters.
Maelle’s Esquim offers impressive potential for high damage builds that are not solely focused on one-shot kills, while Lune’s Esqium is equally capable of delivering massive damage.
Overall, the update is packed with exciting new weapons, items, Pictos, Luminas, and stylish new outfits to dress up your characters. The developers at Sandfall Interactive have given players a fantastic gift, just in time for the holidays.
