Among all the new Mega Evolutions in Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Mega Scrafty stands out as one of the strongest options for your team. Its Dark/Fighting-type combo gives it many unique advantages, helping it beat tough opponents from other trainers. To make the most of Mega Scrafty’s increased power, you need to use the correct item during battle.
Scrafty originally debuted in the fifth generation of Pokémon games, specifically in Pokémon Black and White. Unlike some other Mega Evolutions introduced in Legends: Z-A, like Mega Falinks or Mega Drampa, Mega Scrafty can only be used when you evolve a Pokémon from its base form. Only the highest stage of the Scrafty line can transform further into Mega Scrafty, so you’ll need to have the right Pokémon to do it.
Where to Find Scrafty in Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Investigate Hidden Locations in the City
One of the best ways to find Scraggy, the base form of Scrafty, is in the wild areas of Lumiose City. Scraggy is a rare sight in the hidden Sewers beneath the city, making it harder to catch than Pokémon that roam freely in regular wild zones.
If you can’t find Scraggy in the sewers, try checking alleyways at night. Sometimes, Scraggy spawns there alongside other nocturnal Pokémon. Keep in mind, the day and night cycle in Legends: Z-A isn’t always consistent, so it may be tricky to predict exactly when Scraggy appears in certain spots.
Other Common Locations
- The top of Passage de la Felicite, southwest of the main city landscape, near the Bleu Pokémon Center, accessible via ladder.
- Alleyways late at night, especially since Lumiose Sewers aren’t accessible until later in the game.
Since the Sewers unlock only after Main Mission 19, exploring alleyways at night is a good way to scout for Scraggy earlier in your adventure. Be prepared, as Scraggy has high defense stats and can be tough to catch quickly.
Evolving Scraggy into Scrafty
Once you have a Scraggy, it will only evolve into Scrafty when it reaches level 39. This may take some time and effort through battles and other encounters. It’s usually during the later stages of your playthrough that you’ll get a Scrafty, but its strength makes it worth the wait.
You can also find Wild Zone 20, known as the “endgame” area of the city, where Scrafty appears more frequently. This zone is known for housing rare Pokémon, including Mega Scrafty.
How to Get the Mega Stone for Scrafty
The only way to Mega Evolve Scrafty into Mega Scrafty is with the Mega Stone called Scraftinite. This item isn’t given to you automatically and must be found or purchased.
How to Obtain Scraftinite:
- Purchase it at the Quasartico Inc. Headquarters after unlocking that shop.
- Cost is 240 Mega Shards, a special currency earned separately from regular in-game money.
- Mega Shards can be farmed around Lumiose City by breaking clusters with moves like Bullet Punch, Quick Attack, or Aqua Jet.
- You can also earn Mega Shards by exchanging Pink Canari Plushes at the Racine Construction Company.
Once you have the Scraftinite, equip it to your Mega Bracelet. During battles, activate it when your Scrafty is in play to Mega Evolve it, boosting its stats significantly.
Mega Scrafty’s Stats and Strengths
Mega Scrafty boasts a total of 588 points, with impressive Defense and Special Defense stats. Its high Attack stat of 130 makes it a powerful physical attacker. Its resistances to different move types give it an edge in battles, allowing it to hold its ground against many opponents.
This Pokémon’s resilience and attack power mean it can handle tough fights and turn the tide of battle. While it may not be everyone’s first choice, having Mega Scrafty on your team can give you a strategic advantage and add a new level of strength to your lineup in Legends: Z-A.
