Pokémon Legends: Z-A Mega Dimension features some of the most exciting boss fights in the series, especially when including the DLC battles. These fights are like small-scale MMO raids, with a team working together to succeed.

To defeat Heatran and get the Heatranite needed to Mega Evolve it, you’ll have to progress quite a bit into the DLC story. Once you reach the end of the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 5 mission, you can access the Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena to challenge Heatran.

Be Ready for a Mega Battle

To encounter Heatran and obtain the Heatranite, you need to advance through the DLC campaign until you complete the final part of the Hyperspace Lumiose Survey No. 5 Mission. This location is to the southwest of Lumiose City, where you’ll find a portal in the Hyperspace Rogue Mega Arena. Keep in mind, the portal is under scaffolding, and you might need to break some rocks to reach it.

Prepare yourself, as Mega Heatran deals a lot of damage and is immune to many move types, making the fight particularly challenging. It’s easy to run out of your remaining donuts (energy) during the battle. It’s smart to bring Pokémon that are weak to its attacks (listed below), or carry healing items like Max Potions to stay in the fight.

Finishing the battle will reward you with a Heatran and the Heatranite, which allows you to Mega Evolve it.

How to Get Heatran in Legends: Z-A

You’ll Receive One for Free

When fighting Mega Heatran, remember to stay mobile. A good tactic is to move in circles—clockwise or counter-clockwise—whenever it prepares its fire breath attack. Keep moving until the attack ends, or you’ll get burned. During this attack, your Pokémon might take constant damage, so switch to Pokémon that resist fire or heal them mid-battle with a Max Potion.

Heatran is weak to:

Ground type (4x damage)
Water type (2x damage)
Fighting type (2x damage)

It’s resistant to:

Normal, Flying, Psychic, Dragon (0.5x damage)
Grass, Ice, Bug, Steel, Fairy (0.25x damage)

And immune to:

After you beat Heatran, the game will give you a free Heatran to add to your team. You can immediately use the Heatranite to Mega Evolve it. Additionally, you’ll receive a special item called Hyperspace Butter, which boosts your donut-crafting skills significantly.
