Pokémon Pokopia has finally been released, and players are excited to explore this quirky world as a Ditto-like character. Since Pokopia is designed as a casual, long-term game, there’s always something to do beyond completing the story.
If you’re craving a new challenge, the game’s first in-game event, “More Spores For Hoppip,” launches this month. It offers limited-time rewards and special Pokémon interactions.
When is the “More Spores For Hoppip” Event?
The event begins on March 9, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Daylight Time (PDT), and ends on March 24, 2026, at 12:59 p.m. PDT.
Players have discovered that they can access the event anytime by changing their Switch 2’s date to a day within the event period. This trick, similar to what’s done in games like Animal Crossing and Disney Dreamlight Valley, can let you participate after the official end date. However, be cautious with time alterations, as they might break some game functions, such as stopping shops from resetting or items from respawning normally. While no issues have been reported in Pokopia yet, doing this is at your own risk.
You’ll have over two weeks to complete the event and earn rewards. Keep in mind, you’ll need to finish a few main story quests before joining in.
How to Complete the Event
The event is centered around Hoppip and its evolutions. When it starts, Hoppip will be roaming around the town, and you can befriend it. Hoppip will ask you to gather Cotton Spores, which can only be collected on Dream Islands.
Access to Dream Islands requires befriending a floating Drifloon near the coast by the bridge to Palette Town. To do this, build its habitat with three campfires side-by-side and find a doll nearby that it can channel energy from. The doll will be visible as an in-game object.
After befriending Drifloon and giving it the doll, it will offer to take you to a dream island. Remember, Dream Islands can only be visited once a day, and these are where you’ll find the Cotton Spores needed for the event. You can exchange these Spores at the Pokémon Center for picnic furniture, which allows you to create unique habitats. These habitats will spawn Skiploom and Jumpluff, which you can then befriend.
Note: Dream Islands are different from Cloud Islands, which are used for multiplayer features and do not contain Cotton Spores.
Habitat Locations for Spawned Pokémon
- Yellow Carpet Habitat: Hosts Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff. You’ll need 4 Dandy Flowers to set this up.
- Field-Trip Friends Habitat: Houses only Skiploom, requiring a Flower Backpack, Lunch Box, and Hoppip Water Bottle.
These Pokémon are currently exclusive to this event, meaning you won’t find them outside the event once it ends, though they will remain in the game afterward.
Additional Details
Since trading Cotton Spores at the Pokémon Center is necessary to participate, you must have access to the main Pokémon Center for the event to activate. Hoppip won’t appear until the Center is rebuilt, even if the event period has started.
Once ready, Hoppip will show up nearby to start the event, giving you all the info needed to join in. Hurry and catch these Pokémon before the event ends!
