If you’re a fan of Genshin Impact, you probably enjoy spending time with your favorite characters through the main story, their side stories, and chats in the SereniTea Pot. Now, HoYoverse offers another way to connect with them — a permanent feature called Traveler’s Tales.
Get the Travel Accounts notebook from Katherine and explore Teyvat to find and chat with your favorite characters. If you don’t see your favorite, try advancing another character’s Traveler’s Tales or progress further in the main story to unlock more characters.
Traveler’s Tales Overview
Once you start playing Genshin Impact, you’ve got a lot to learn about the game’s world and lore. Some features, like Traveler’s Tales, are only unlocked after reaching Adventure Rank 28.
Not only do you need to hit AR28, but you also have to make progress in the Liyue story by completing the Archon Quest Chapter One, which begins after finishing the Prologue in Mondstadt. After meeting these requirements, Katherine will have a new option called Traveler’s Tales when you talk to her at the Adventurer’s Guild, whether to get your daily commissions or manage expeditions.
Select this option, listen to her explanation, and you’ll complete a quest named The Many Matters Learned in One’s Travels. This grants you the Traveler’s Accounts in your inventory under the Gadgets tab.
Talk to Characters and Collect Anecdotes
Once you’ve unlocked Traveler’s Tales, characters in Teyvat will appear as small circles on your map, usually near the region they come from. New characters are added regularly with game updates, so it’s good to keep an eye out for who’s available for a chat. When you find a character, approach and talk to them.
Characters will stay at their designated spot for five real-time days. After that, whether you talk to them or not, they will vanish and be replaced by another character. Since characters appear randomly, be sure to check your map often.
When you speak to a character, they share an anecdote — a short story about themselves or Genshin Impact’s world. Some characters have multiple anecdotes, but each visit only lets you hear one. To hear them all, you’ll need to wait for their return later.
You can talk with up to five characters daily. The anecdotes are stored in your Travel Accounts book for future listening. Some stories unlock as you progress through the main game, choose certain quests, or hear other characters’ tales. The first time you listen to a character’s Traveler’s Tales, you earn the “Stories Along the Way” achievement in the Wonders of the World category. Additionally, you earn Primogems for every new anecdote from character chats and updated content.
How to Make Specific Characters Appear
If you want a particular character to appear sooner, head to Inazuma’s Grand Narukami Shrine. Talk to Yae Miko at her desk in front of the shrine, and complete her short quest to unlock the Destiny Drawn ability at the shrine’s information desk.
This allows you to wish for specific characters, increasing their chances of appearing for two days in real time. While it doesn’t guarantee they will show up, your odds of seeing your chosen character go up significantly.
You can only hear five Traveler’s Tales per day, so choose your chats wisely. Stories are not only a way to enrich your experience but also a fun way to learn more about the characters and lore of Genshin Impact.
