Archetypes are a new way to customize your playstyle in EA Sports FC 26’s Clubs mode. You can pick from Archetypes in the Goalkeeper, Defender, Midfielder, or Attacker categories. Each Archetype offers unique perks that enhance how you play. When you start the game, you’ll select an Archetype to define your style.
As you play, you earn Archetype experience points that help you upgrade and develop your chosen Archetype. There are various paths and builds available to tailor your player further. Later, you can experiment with different combinations, but initially, focusing on a couple of Archetypes that suit your role is best.
Archetypes, Explained
Goalkeeper
There are two Archetypes for goalies: Shotstopper and Sweeper Keeper.
- Shotstopper focuses on blocking low shots and playing more defensively. Combining Footwork with perks like 1v1 Close Down plus allows you to cover more goal area effectively. Key attributes include acceleration, diving, handling, and reflexes.
- Sweeper Keeper is more aggressive. It involves coming out to meet attackers, launching for crosses, and playing forward with long throws and passes. This Archetype emphasizes long pass, diving, kicking, and positioning skills.
Defender
Defenders range from aggressive modern center-backs to traditional physical ones.
- Progressor makes moves from the back into midfield to support attack while maintaining defensive strength. Key perks include Long Ball Pass and Anticipate, with attributes like long pass, composure, awareness, and stand tackle.
- Boss is all about imposing physicality through tackles, headers, and strength. Focuses include slide tackles, physical tackles, and aggression. Attributes are heading accuracy, strength, and slide tackle.
- Engine prioritizes stamina, keeping defenders active longer. Benefits include intercepting, raider, and workhorse skills. Attributes cover short pass, interceptions, and stamina.
- Marauder suits attacking fullbacks with quick passes and pace. Emphasizes sprint speed, crossing, and tackling with attributes fitting those areas.
Midfielder
Midfielders can be playmakers or more defensive.
- Recycler specializes in reclaiming the ball in defense and distributing it forward, with perks like press and pass, and specializations focusing on long shots and anticipation. Attributes include long pass, interceptions, and awareness.
- Maestro controls the game from deep in midfield with excellent vision, long passes, and ball control. Perks include technical skills, ball control, and vision. Attributes emphasize long pass, ball control, and composure.
- Creator pushes forward to set up attacks, relying on inventive passing. Focuses on whipped passes, assistant play, and dead ball skills, with attributes in long shots, vision, and curve.
- Spark is for attacking midfielders with explosive creativity, dribbling, and sharp crosses. Key attributes include acceleration, agility, and dribbling.
Attacker
For those who play with finesse or rely on power.
- Magician excels at dribbling and finesse shots, combining quick moves with technical finishing. Perks revolve around quick steps, ankle breakers, and shooting. Attributes include acceleration, finishing, and balance.
- Finisher is a pure goal scorer, focused on reactions, volleys, and composure. It improves your shot power and accuracy, especially in tight situations.
- Target is for target men who excel at heading and holding up play. Perks include power shots and headers, with attributes centered on shot power, strength, and jumping.
Each Archetype can be further developed by earning experience and points, allowing you to customize your player’s performance to match your preferred style.
