In Sintopia, the small Humus creatures living on the planet naturally accumulate sins as they go about their daily routines and participate in different activities. Some Humus are more prone to certain sins based on their jobs or what they observe.
| Sin | How it is gained |
|————|————————————————————–|
| Sloth | When Humus have no task or are waiting for their next one. |
| Wrath | When Humus witness a death. |
| Pride | During work as builders, priests, doctors, or after completing a task. |
| Envy | Newcomers without a house, or Humus exploring in the wild. |
| Lust | During night activities aimed at producing more Humus. |
| Greed | When Humus gather, harvest, or trade, especially around merchants. |
| Gluttony | When Humus eat at noon or when they cannot find food. |
You can check a Humus’s sin level by clicking on them, which opens a detailed info panel. This panel shows their name, cycles experienced, alterations, cause of death, their current sin level, and fear level.
If a Humus’s sin level is too low when they are reborn, they become saints. These saints don’t generate Purgdollars in Hell. They might need to be sent back to the upper world or kept waiting in line until their patience, called Holy Patience, wears out and they lose their saintly status. Later in the game, players can use the Time Dilator room to instantly reset Holy Patience, speeding up their return process.
When a Humus accrues too much sin, they turn into a Deviant. Deviants cannot be cleansed at regular medical buildings; instead, they need to be taken to specialists like Lustologists or Wrathologists who focus on reducing specific sins and restoring them to order for the overworld.
Reducing Sin involves building Omnisin Doctor facilities in Hell and guiding the soul-humus along designated Soul Roads. Humus with sin levels under 50 can be treated at these clinics, while Deviants must go to specialists. Improving efficiency in sin reduction takes time, especially early on, but earning Hearos allows upgrading abilities and processing buildings. You can motivate your employees further through trait upgrades or placing Motivation Decor near their workplaces.
To make the process faster, upgrade your Omnisin Doctor to a 7D version for 25 Hearos, which treats sins even more quickly. Creating loops with Soul Dispatchers along the pathways ensures humus keeps passing through the system until their sins are sufficiently reduced and you earn more Hearos.
In some cases, you might want to increase a Humus’s sin level. While this is uncommon, it’s necessary if you want to spawn demons. To do this, leave the humus untreated, allowing their sins to grow naturally. You can also deliberately increase a specific sin by directing Humus through Hell’s Corruptile Fields, each dedicated to a particular sin. Walking through these fields during their cycle will boost that sin. Remember, each field can be used once per Humus per cycle.
In the surface world, summoning a demon is possible if enough Cultists perform an Ascension Ritual. Additionally, powerful figures like a Deviant monarch or certain preferences can lead Humus to increase their sins by encouraging specific activities or work. This method can help produce high-sin Humus, which may eventually turn into Deviants and summon demons.
