When you get to Calderon in MIO: Memories In Orbit, it becomes clear that subtlety is not the focus here. This fight is intense and fast-paced, placing you in an arena where relentless attacks demand your full concentration. Calderon doesn’t rely on flashy moves; instead, he tests your discipline.
This battle requires you to slow down and stay mentally alert. It’s less about pounding in hits and more about surviving the rhythm of his attacks without losing your focus. If earlier bosses helped you learn how to move, Calderon teaches you how to stay calm and disciplined when everything on the screen might make you panic.
How to Defeat Calderon
Start from the City Gates checkpoint and head right past the door. Use the hairpin grabbers and flowers to climb upward, then jump left across the rooftops. Continue past the first bridge and through the room beyond it, then cross another bridge before dropping down into a broken section. Keep moving left until you reach a room with a hole in the floor, then drop down to enter Calderon’s arena.
Calderon is a large boss fight focused on recognizing movement patterns and using your new dodge ability wisely. Pay close attention to his massive hands and know when to disengage instead of greedily attacking.
Note: Calderon’s hands glow red and rise above his head before launching an attack.
Calderon’s Moves
| Move Name | What It Does | How to Avoid |
|---|---|---|
| Sequential Hand Punches | Four large hands swing down one after another, targeting your current position | Dodge using your quick move while attacking his head, or simply walk left or right to avoid the punches |
| Paired Hand Punches | Middle hands punch down together, followed by outer hands punching simultaneously | Dodge through the impact zones, then resume attacking after the sequence |
| Lower Hands Fist Punch | Bottom two hands come together for a downward punch | Dodge through it, or jump upward over the hands for safety |
| Full Hand Slam | All four hands come together for a powerful downward punch | Dodge using your quick move and then keep attacking |
| Falling Icicles | Icicles fall from above in spreads | Stay aware and avoid; don’t focus solely on his hands, or you may get caught off guard |
Note: His attacks target your position, so walking calmly away from him can be more reliable than panicked dodges. Remember, his dodge cooldown is roughly one second, so don’t spam it; use it wisely.
Second Phase
In the second phase, air currents lift you into the air. His attack patterns stay the same, so continue using your avoidance techniques. Falling icicles now bounce back upward, and your movement might feel a bit slower. Focus on patience and observation rather than rushing. Watch his hand movements carefully, pace your attacks, respect dodge cooldowns, and stay alert to his new patterns. With careful timing and focus, you can defeat Calderon.
