Get ready, Tarnished, because the new DLC for Elden Ring: Nightreign is here. It adds new bosses, playable characters, enemies, and events. The Forsaken Hollows is a tough expansion to an already challenging game.

Your first major challenge will be to defeat the Balancers, also known as Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia. This fight features a Nightlord, a terrifying angelic creature that can quickly overpower unprepared teams. Here’s a guide on how to take down the Balancers, their weaknesses, and what rewards you’ll earn for defeating them.

What Is The Balancers’ Weakness

Before starting the boss fight, preparation is key. The most important thing is to find a weapon with the Sleep affinity. The Balancers are susceptible to sleep, which allows you to focus on one at a time, especially during the first phase and the main body in later phases.

You can get a sleep weapon by locating a camp marked with the Sleep icon (gray or light blue), or you can buy one from the shop. To upgrade this weapon, hit one of the mines that spawn to gather the necessary materials, as Sleep weapons are usually high rarity. While you don’t need a sleep weapon to win, having one makes the fight significantly easier.

How To Defeat The Balancers

The boss fight has two phases, with the first focusing on several smaller enemies, and the second on the main, more powerful entity. The Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia uses a variety of attacks, mainly overwhelming you with numbers and spear-based moves. Here’s what to expect in each phase.

Phase One

  • Seven Balancers spawn on the far side of the arena. Your goal is to kill all of them to advance.
  • To manage this, split up and lure 2–3 Balancers away from each other. This prevents them from attacking en masse.
  • Use your sleep weapon to put them to sleep one by one. Once asleep, focus on knocking them out. Sleep effects don’t last forever, so act quickly.
  • The most punishable attack is the Forward Summoning Spear, which can be avoided easily by attacking from the side or behind.
  • Be cautious of their spear attacks and spear thrusts. These attacks can be varied, so staying alert helps.

Once all seven are defeated, the boss’s health will be reduced by half, and Phase Two begins.

Phase Two

  • The main Balancer will now have larger wings and glow pink. She retains all previous attacks and introduces new ones.
  • New attacks include:
    • Ariel Assault: The main Balancer and others fly into the air, line up, and then shoot spear attacks in straight lines, exploding after a brief rupture.
    • Spear Rush: A multi-hit combo with quick spear strikes followed by a ground slam.
    • Grab: The main Balancer lunges with a glowing purple hand, attempting to grab you from a distance.
    • Buff Attack: She channels energy, creating a pink ring around her that boosts attack power and releases spear blasts in all directions.
    • Spear Slam: She raises her spear and slams it into the ground three times, ending with a larger slam that causes damage in a wide area.
    • 6-Way Attack: The main Balancer spins, launching spears in six directions.

Tips for the Fight

  • The key is often to separate the enemies, even in the second phase. Once the fight shifts, the main strategy is to isolate her from the smaller Balancers.
  • In the first phase, focus on putting enemies to sleep and defeating them individually.
  • When the main Balancer targets you, try to maintain distance. Watch for the Spear Rush and Buff Attack moves and respond with quick dodges or retreats.
  • During her Buff Attack, avoid rushing her directly, as the surrounding spears punish aggressive attempts.
  • When she’s about to revive all the Balancers at around 1/3 health, be ready for an intensified attack pattern, including more frequent spear slams and the 6-Way Attack.
  • Remember, if you kill the main Balancer, other Balancers are stunned briefly, but she can be reborn if she inhabits one of the survivors.

After the Fight

Defeating Weapon-Bequeathed Harmonia grants you the Will of the Balancers relic. This relic boosts your melee attack power, skill attack, and provides continuous FP recovery. It’s a powerful item that enhances your combat abilities. You can also unlock new skins for your characters, like the Undertaker or Scholar, for stylistic flair.
