After your first major win in MIO: Memories In Orbit, the Vessel shows it still has plenty of challenges ahead. Acat is a boss that actually wants you to slow down. By the time you face him, the game has already introduced new movement tools and tricky terrain, and this fight is designed to make sure you understand how to use them.
Between tight spaces and increasing pressure, simple mistakes can become costly. This guide will help you understand how to approach the fight with confidence instead of frustration as you go deeper into the Vessel.
How To Defeat Acat
You’ll encounter Acat shortly after unlocking the Hairpin move. First, head to the left side of the map, pass through the long icy slide, and make your way to the top-left area on the second floor using the nearby elevator. Continue toward the Apartments area to reach the boss arena.
Before starting the fight, open the door on the right side of this section. It creates a quick escape route back to Acat if you need to restart the fight after dying.
This battle is set up to slow the pace and force you to think about your positioning and movement discipline rather than just quick reactions. Acat controls large parts of the arena with delayed projectiles and tracking attacks that are meant to bait you into panic-dodging or wasting abilities.
Tips for Success
Staying grounded and waiting for the right moment to reposition is key. Focus on steady, deliberate movement instead of constantly staying airborne. This fight is an important skill check that emphasizes the importance of cautious movement as the challenges in the Vessel get tougher.
Acat’s Moves and How to Avoid Them
| Move | What It Does | How to Dodge It |
|---|---|---|
| Ground Rock Punch | Acat slams the ground, sending jagged rocks outward across the floor toward you. | Jump cleanly over the rocks as they move forward. After they land, land behind Acat and attack while he’s recovering. |
| Bomerang Projectile | Acat charges and fires a projectile straight forward that travels out then returns back. | Jump over the initial projectile and stay behind Acat to avoid the returning one, giving you a good opportunity to attack. |
| Homing Missile Leap | Acat jumps up and fires a missile that homes in on your position. | Keep moving slowly in one direction with small adjustments. Avoid sudden jumps or sharp turns, as these can make the missile harder to dodge. |
| Charged Dash | Acat briefly prepares then dashes forward at high speed in a straight line. | Use the Hairpin move to lift into the air and dodge out of his path, then reposition as he slides past. |
The Key to Winning
Focus on calm, controlled movement and wait for clear openings before attacking. Patience is crucial during this fight, especially when Acat’s health reaches around half and again near one-third. At these points, he becomes more dangerous — firing rock piles in both directions twice in succession. Early jumps are vital, and rushing damage during these phases isn’t wise; spacing and patience will help you finish the fight safely.
Additional Note
Remember that the Hairpin move has a short cooldown and resets only when you land back on the ground. Avoid using it too early or repeatedly while airborne, as conserving this ability improves your chances of avoiding heavy damage.
