As you progress through the main story of Crimson Desert, you’ll notice that much of it takes place in Hernand. The first four chapters and the prologue introduce many basic game mechanics. In the fifth chapter, the story officially allows you to leave Hernand and head to Demeniss while following the Crowcaller.
After defending a church in Demeniss from crow enemies, you’ll have a conversation with an NPC who mentions a relic capable of opening a gate to the abyss. To find this relic, you’ll need to locate a hidden basement and solve a puzzle there as part of the “Secret At The Church” quest.
How to Find the Secret Basement
Once you speak to the NPC who’s trying to protect herself in a shack, she’ll inform you that the relic is inside a secret basement. After this conversation, a part of the map near the main church will be marked. You can search for the basement by heading to the church but don’t need to go inside it.
On the left side of the church’s entrance, at the very end, there’s a small shack. Entering this shack reveals stairs leading down to the basement. If you’re low on money and don’t mind bending some moral rules, you can also loot the cabinets inside the church at this point, since no one is nearby to see you.
Since no one is around, you can take the riches without the risk of being caught.
How to Solve the Relic Puzzle
When you get to the basement, you’ll find a small tile puzzle guarding the church’s relic. This puzzle requires you to only click on tiles that are sticking out. Choosing a tile will cause all connected tiles in the same row and column to move. For example, selecting the middle tile will shift the entire middle row and column.
You need to push the tiles in a specific order to get all of them inside the puzzle area. Follow this sequence: bottom left, bottom middle, middle left, and top right. Completing this sequence will solve the puzzle, allowing you to claim the relic. Then, place the relic on the nearby pillar. Use the focus mode to select the plant option, which will lead to the next part of your quest.
