Adopting a new pet is always exciting, and Heartopia gives you the chance to bring multiple furry friends into your cozy home. From cute puppies to sweet cats, your house will be filled with love—if you treat your pets well.
Before you can adopt a cat, you need to meet some early-game requirements. After that, you’ll unlock a new skill tree called the Cat Caring Hobby. Here’s what you need to know to start training your new feline friend. We’re excited to see what you’ll do with your adorable pet.
How to Unlock the Cat Caring Hobby
To get the Cat Caring ability, you must reach Developer’s Guild level 12, which will take several real days to earn enough contribution medals. Once you’ve hit that level, go to the town square and find Mrs. Joan at the Pet Supplies shop. Speak with her and trade a Hobby Expansion Ticket to unlock the Cat Caring skill.
Note: You need to have unlocked the Gardening, Fishing, Cooking, Birdwatching, and Insect Catching hobbies before unlocking Cat Caring. After that, you can move on to the Dog Caring Hobby.
How to Adopt a Cat
To adopt a cat, you should browse the daily selection in the store. Each day, the cats change, so if you don’t find your favorite right away, just come back later. The store features many breeds, colors, and personality types, so take your time to pick.
When ready to bring a cat home, pay 500 gold for a physical exam. After that, you can name your new pet and bring them back to your house to start feeding and playing.
Tip: You can rename your cat later!
All Cat Breeds and Traits
The cats available each day are random, making each visit a surprise. Some breeds to look out for include:
- Siamese
- Grey Cat
- Black Cat
- White Cat
- Raccoon Cat
- Silver Tabby
- Orange Tabby
- Brown Tabby
- Calico
- Piebald Cat
- Panda Cat
- Golden Spotted Cat
- Tortoiseshell Cat
- Tuxedo Cat
Since the patterns and traits may vary, wait for the cat you like best. Pets cannot be returned or exchanged once adopted.
Traits and Personalities
Each cat has two traits that affect their personality, making each one unique. Traits can be positive or negative, so look out for:
- Chatterbox: More meows than usual.
- Clingy: Follows you around more and might destroy furniture.
- Energetic: Very active and loves to play.
- Indifferent: No strong feelings either way.
- Naughty: More likely to misbehave.
- Quiet: Makes little noise.
- Sensitive: A picky eater.
- Sluggish: Food meter decreases slowly; less active.
- Sociable: Craves more interaction.
- Unsociable: Less interested in socializing.
Traits don’t prevent your cat from learning poses or being cared for—they just add personality. Don’t let traits stop you from adopting the adorable cat you love.
How to Increase Your Bond With Your Cat
Spending time with your cat through feeding, petting, bathing, and playing helps build a strong relationship. As your bond grows, the chances of your cat bringing you gifts and special moments increase.
To improve your bond, wait for your cat to react to the teaser, then press the button matching the one above their head to level up the training. Daily interactions and taking pictures of your cat performing tricks will earn stars toward rewards.
You can also take your cat out for walks around town. Keep in mind: if your cat gets too far behind or you run or ride the scooter too fast, the walk will end and your cat will return home.
