If there’s one thing Squanch Games aimed to do with High On Life 2, it was to create a playful satire of common video game clichés and highlight the darker aspects of society. This theme is woven throughout the game, including the hidden endings you can unlock if you play the game in a specific way.
To achieve all achievements, you’ll need to unlock these secret endings as well. Here’s a guide on how to unlock each one in High On Life 2.
Important note: Some secret endings can be missed if you don’t complete certain tasks at specific points, meaning you’ll have to replay the game from the start to unlock them all.
What Are The Secret Endings in High On Life 2?
The game features four main endings, each offering a different conclusion to the story:
- The Standard Ending – considered the “bad” ending.
- The Secret Early Ending – viewed as the “good” ending.
- The Secret Ankh Ending – known as the “true secret” ending.
- The Post-Credits Ending – a humorous, satirical take on the bad ending.
We’ll show you how to unlock every one of these endings, including the secret ones.
How To Unlock Every Ending
Most players will likely see the bad ending on their first playthrough. However, some endings require specific actions early in the game, like a secret ending that must be unlocked within the first hour; missing this will prevent you from obtaining it later.
How To Unlock The Good Secret Ending
Progress normally at first, following story prompts, participating in shows, and taking out bounty targets. Then, to unlock the secret good ending:
- Collect your arsenal.
- Return home and select the 15 million Peso bounty on your sister, Lizzie.
- Continue through the portal to the Circuit Arcadia Zoo.
- Use Sweezy’s Time Bubble to stop guards from capturing you, then head into the zoo’s aviary.
- Defeat the enemies called The Good Guys and use Sweezy’s Time Bubble on a Ludblob to keep moving.
Once you reach the aviary, climb the wall on the left and drop into the area. Eventually, you’ll encounter Lizzie, surrounded by bounty hunters. Swing across to Lizzie, keep talking until she’s cornered, then let the other bounty hunters back off. Be careful: if you accidentally shoot Lizzie, you’ll end the game, get her funeral scene, and then credits roll, earning you the “Good Ending” achievement. After credits, the game reloads, allowing you to continue.
How To Unlock The Regular Bad Ending
Failing to defend humans during specific missions or shooting Nipulon during the trial will result in the standard bad ending. Attempts include:
- Failing to protect humans.
- Shooting Nipulon during the trial.
- Successfully defending humans, which leads to a different outcome.
- Shooting a thrown sheet of paper into a basket to score points; failing here also leads to the bad ending.
All paths ultimately lead to the boss fight against Nipulon, which challenges you to win through a high that’s induced by human drugs.
How To Unlock The Post-Credits Ending
This is the easiest secret ending to achieve:
- Watch through the entire credits without skipping.
- Return to The Quarters after the party scene.
- You’ll see Suit-O break the fourth wall, thank you for playing, suggest supporting the developers, and hint at a possible sequel.
No specific choices needed—just patience after the credits roll.
How To Unlock The Ankhs For The Memories Ending
To access this ending, complete the three No Escape Room challenges in Pinkline Harbor. Finishing these will earn you three Ankhs, which are required for this secret ending.
After finishing the escape rooms, sign the newsletter at the designated desk to continue. Then, after the final boss fight against Nipulon, enjoy a celebratory party. Near the entrance, interact with an Ankh to trigger the ending sequence.
Unlocking these secret endings adds extra flavor and completion to your experience, offering new perspectives and satirical twists on the classic game narrative.
