While the side missions in Hollow Knight: Silksong provide some of the best rewards and character moments, many of them can be pretty confusing when it comes to completing the tasks. The Huntress’s “Broodfeast” quest is one of the earliest that comes to mind, mainly because it only offers vague hints on how to gather all 60 required ingredients.
To locate the Huntress initially, you’ll need the Faydown Cloak guide and access the Putrified Ducts, where her hut is located near the middle at the bottom of the area. The easiest route is through the secret entrance in the Memorium, but if you’ve already explored the Bilewater caverns, the path unlocked after defeating Groal will lead directly there.
How to Collect All Ingredients for the Broodfeast Quest
Once you’ve accepted the Broodfeast quest, you’ll need to gather several ingredients so her children can eat. Each ingredient requires killing specific enemies using certain damage types. While the enemies don’t seem to matter much, the tools you use should involve fire damage, spinning attacks, and piercing attacks.
Tip: Equipping the Architect’s Crest allows you to carry all three necessary tools simultaneously, along with its built-in shredding attacks. The Shard Pendant can also help you farm the materials needed to craft these tools.
Starting with the 15 Seared Organs, the simplest method is to use the Flintslate tool obtained in the Deep Docks to defeat enemies, though the explosive Pimpillo and Wispfire Lantern also work. Keep in mind, while the Pollip Pouch might seem like a good way to boost damage, its poison effect ruins the meat, making it unusable for the quest.
Next up are 35 Shredded Organs, which require a spinning weapon or tool like the Conchcutter from the Sands of Karak, the Delver’s Drill from the Underworks, or the Twelfth Architect’s Cogwork Wheel. You can also use the downward or charge attacks embedded in the Architect’s Crest and Beast Crest to achieve this, saving time and Shell Shards.
The last ingredients are 10 Skewered Organs. These can be easily collected by killing enemies with long-bladed piercing tools such as the Sting Shard or Longpin, with the Sting Shard being notably more effective.
Best Methods and Rewards for the Broodfeast Quest
For farming enemies needed for the quest, the area just east of Greymoor’s Halfway House is a great spot. Any area with multiple weak enemies works well. Traveling through the caverns directly to the right of the Halfway House reveals three targets, with three more just beyond a small waterway.
After collecting all 60 ingredients, returning to the Huntress will reward you with the blue slot Longclaw Tool, one of the best melee-focused tools in the game.
