Getting Mega Greninja, Mega Delphox, and Mega Chesnaught in Pokémon Legends: Z-A can be somewhat difficult because their Mega Stones aren’t naturally unlocked during the story. The latest main series game from Generation 9 has finally come out, bringing many changes. Reviewers have praised Pokémon Legends: Z-A for its real-time combat, balance, and the enjoyment of Mega Evolving your Pokémon.
Beyond the classic Mega Evolutions introduced previously in the series, new Mega forms are included for Pokémon new to this game. For example, Mega Feraligatr, a Generation 2 Pokémon that didn’t previously have a Mega form, is now available. Additionally, Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja also gain Mega Evolutions.
### How to Get Mega Greninja, Mega Delphox, & Mega Chesnaught
Most Mega Stones needed for Mega Evolutions can be earned by progressing through the campaign and completing side quests. However, Mega Chesnaught, Mega Delphox, and Mega Greninja are only obtainable through a specific gameplay feature. According to the official Pokémon website, these Mega Stones are rewards for participating in online Ranked Battles.
As you climb the ranks in Ranked Battles, you’ll receive these Mega Stones: Greninjite for Mega Greninja, Delphoxite for Mega Delphox, and Chesnaughtite for Mega Chesnaught. It’s important to note that each Mega Stone is distributed during particular ranked seasons, so you’ll need to increase your rank in at least three different seasons to get all three Mega Evolutions.
### Keep an Eye on Pokémon Legends: Z-A’s Ranked Battle Seasons
Ranked Battles are only accessible through online play. For each season, the promotion rewards are as follows:
– Season 1: Greninjite (Mega Greninja)
– Season 2: Delphoxite (Mega Delphox)
– Season 3: Chesnaughtite (Mega Chesnaught)
Promotions for these seasons are based on your ranking, so you’ll need to keep up with the seasons since Nintendo hasn’t announced specific dates for the upcoming seasons. To clarify, a promotion at the end of each season rewards you with a Mega Stone to use.
Note that these Mega Stones aren’t available during regular gameplay, and Nintendo plans to redistribute them in future seasons. Since Ranked Battles require an online connection, you must have a Nintendo Switch Online membership to participate, which means these Mega Evolutions are behind an online paywall.
It’s a good idea to earn these Mega Stones early because Mega Greninja, Mega Delphox, and Mega Chesnaught can be very helpful in other battles within Pokémon Legends: Z-A. Besides Ranked Battles, the game also features systems like the Z-A Royale and face-offs against Rogue Mega Evolutions, which can give you advantages depending on the Pokémon you face.
Getting these Mega Stones requires effort, but they can be valuable allies in your journey through Pokémon Legends: Z-A.
