Dragon Age: The Veilguard focuses on Solas, following his setup as a potential villain in Dragon Age: Inquisition. In this sequel, players still work with Solas, but he maintains a confrontational role. The story centers on his goal to return the world of the ancient elves to glory, disregarding those who currently inhabit the realm.
Despite the focus on Solas, the actor who portrays him, Gareth David-Lloyd, has shared that his favorite game in the series is still Inquisition. At Power Con in Scotland, he mentioned that he has played through the series multiple times, with Inquisition holding a special place for him.
Gareth David-Lloyd Loves Dragon Age: Inquisition, And Has Played It Three Times
During a panel, Joseph Capp, who plays Elgar’nan, asked David-Lloyd about his favorite game in the series. He quickly replied, “Inquisition – if you romance Solas.” David-Lloyd confirmed this by mentioning that he always played as friends with Solas: “I actually played Inquisition three times, and each time, I romanced myself, which is a bit strange,” he joked.
He has played The Veilguard as well. Unsurprisingly, his favorite ending is where Solas finds a way to redeem himself. “Even with all his flaws, there’s a good heart inside him,” he said.
David-Lloyd also discussed the game’s development during the panel. Initially, he was supposed to perform the motion capture for Solas, but due to COVID, that plan changed. Someone else did the mocap, and he was told to record his lines to match that performance. This approach didn’t work well, so he returned to re-record his lines, and the mocap was adjusted to fit his performance.
