There are four multiplayer game modes available in the Battlefield 6 beta right now, with more options expected to be added when the full game launches in October. The game features some variety in its playlists, including modes with both closed and open weapon variants on certain types. Each game mode offers a different experience—whether it’s the large-scale warfare of Breakthrough or the tighter, tactical gameplay of Squad Deathmatch.
Below, we explain each battlefield mode available in the beta and what you can look forward to in the full release. Don’t forget, if you want to try these modes yourself, check out our guide on how to get access to the Battlefield 6 beta before it ends!
All multiplayer game modes in Battlefield 6
There will be eight game modes in the official release of Battlefield 6. Currently, four are playable in the beta, with more promised soon. Here’s the full list of BF6 modes:
- Conquest (available in the beta)
- Breakthrough (available in the beta)
- King of the Hill (available in the beta)
- Domination (available in the beta)
- Rush (available during Open Beta Weekend 2)
- Squad Deathmatch (available during Open Beta Weekend 2)
- Team Deathmatch (not currently in the beta)
- Escalation (not yet available to play)
Additionally, there are several variants of these modes. For example, Battlefield 6 offers both closed and open weapon versions of Conquest. There are also “101” variants, which are simplified for beginners, and a firing range where players can test weapons. Essentially, the game separates into two categories: “All Out Warfare,” which includes large-scale modes supporting up to 64 players across the full maps, and smaller modes designed for more traditional multiplayer matches within limited zones.
Conquest
This is a large-scale mode where two teams fight over multiple capture points on the map. The goal is to reduce the enemy’s score to zero by holding these points and eliminating soldiers. Expect lots of jets and helicopters depending on the map.
Breakthrough
In this mode, one team begins by holding several capture points, which they must defend, while the opposing team tries to break through from a single point. As the attackers push forward, the front lines move across the map. This mode often favors snipers, so having a good range finder is helpful.
King of the Hill
Two teams compete over a single capture point that moves around during the match. The key is to stay on the point to earn points while preventing the other team from taking control.
Domination
Multiple capture points are fought over within a small area. Teams earn points by holding these points and defeating opponents in close combat.
Rush
Two teams battle over a series of “M-Com” stations. One team tries to plant explosives at each station to destroy them, while the other defends. The game ends when all stations are destroyed or the attacking team runs out of respawns.
Squad Deathmatch
A small-team mode where squads of four compete to reach a kill target. The first to achieve it wins.
Team Deathmatch
Two large teams face off, trying to eliminate as many opponents as possible. This mode isn’t in the beta yet.
Escalation
A new mode still being tested, where two teams capture control points. As points are seized, the scale of the battle increases, leading to larger fights as the match progresses.
Variants and Custom Modes
There are also different variations, like closed and open weapon modes, easier beginner versions called “101” modes, and testing areas like firing ranges. Large-scale modes use the full maps with up to 64 players, while smaller modes focus on specific zones for a more traditional multiplayer experience.
Examples of modes
- In Conquest, players will utilize jets and helicopters depending on the map.
- Breakthrough involves pushing the frontline forward as the attacking team.
- King of the Hill emphasizes survival on a moving point.
- Domination features quick fights over tightly packed points.
- Rush is all about planting or preventing explosives at M-Com stations.
- Squad Deathmatch offers quick, team-based shooting action.
- Team Deathmatch is a straightforward elimination challenge.
- Escalation promises larger battles that grow as control points switch hands.
Keep an eye out for updates, as more modes and variants are expected to appear in future weekends and the full game.
