After finishing the “There and Back Again” prologue in STALKER 2, you’ll need to escape the strange anomaly zone. Once you’re free, you can explore the larger world, especially the Lesser Zone. At first, understanding how these anomalies work can be tricky because they often look warped and distorted, making them hard to spot. Here’s a simple way to get out of the anomaly field using just some bolts and quick timing.
### How to Use a Bolt to Escape the Anomalous Zone in STALKER 2
To leave the anomaly area, focus on one part of the field’s edge and throw a bolt at it. You can quickly equip bolts by selecting them from the bottom of your gear wheel. It doesn’t matter whether you throw overhand or underhand. When the bolt hits the anomaly, it creates a temporary gap you can sprint through to safety.
If you’re getting killed by the anomalies, the problem might be that you’re running through the opening too early or too late. The hole only stays open for about three seconds, so you need to run really fast, just like the game instructs. Keep in mind, the anomaly’s damage zone can hurt you even if you don’t touch it directly. Stay moving through the gap and keep running for a few seconds after you make it out for extra safety.
### Additional Hazards
Be careful of the anomaly tornadoes, which can cut your health in half if you walk into them. Look for swirling leaves on the ground as a warning sign to avoid these dangerous whirlwinds.
Throughout your exploration in STALKER 2, you’ll frequently come across hazardous anomalies such as warped barriers, tornadoes, electrical patches, and pools of acid. Remember what you learn here, stay alert, and keep listening to your detector. There’s a particularly large anomaly coming up early in the game when you need to find the dog collar near Bulba—that’s a whole other challenge.
Stay cautious and watch your surroundings. The Zone is full of surprises, so always be prepared!
