If you’ve played the new Astra Malorum map in Black Ops 7 Zombies, you might have noticed OSCAR patrolling the area once you progress further into this new zone. OSCAR has some special abilities that make him a tough opponent, especially if you cross paths with him during your game.
When it comes to handling this new enemy in Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Season 1, you have two options: try to sneak past him or take him out. Of course, destroying OSCAR is the more exciting choice, but it also comes with more danger because he fights back fiercely. Here are some tips on how to defeat OSCAR in Black Ops 7 Zombies.
What ammo mods does OSCAR take more damage from?
The bad news is OSCAR isn’t vulnerable to any of the elemental ammo mods available in Black Ops 7 Zombies. To make things worse, although his health isn’t extremely high, he frequently spawns UFO-like drones that shield him from all damage until they are destroyed. The drones are especially weak against the Brain Rot ammo mod. While you can shoot them with other weapons or bullets, it takes longer. Given that zombies might be attacking at the same time and OSCAR himself hits hard, grabbing the Brain Rot ammo mod quickly can make taking out these drones much easier.
How to easily defeat OSCAR in Black Ops 7 Zombies
Since OSCAR starts roaming as soon as you open the initial doors, he can quickly become a problem. The best approach is generally to avoid him until you’re ready with enough points to activate traps. Early on, focus on eliminating the UFO drones while keeping OSCAR exposed, which slowly chips away at his health. Just keep in mind, his laser attacks deal heavy damage, and he can boost the speed and strength of nearby zombies. So, most players are better off avoiding him until they have sufficient points to set off traps.
Finding traps is only part of the strategy. There are several traps around the map, but you’ll also need to lure OSCAR into these areas to damage him effectively. One of the fastest ways to take him down is by using the Apogee Annihilator trap. You can find this trap along one of the rocky exterior paths near the observatory. Once you’ve located it, try to bait OSCAR into following you there. When he’s close, activate the trap by paying 1,500 essence points, which triggers the Astronomer Rockets. The explosives will rain down and damage him significantly. If you manage to keep him near the trap, he’ll go down quickly, allowing you to finish him off with guns if needed. Without traps, dealing with the UFO drones and OSCAR alone can be a lot trickier.
Killing OSCAR rewards you with plenty of resources, XP, and completes a special challenge. After defeating him, you’ll gain more freedom to explore Astra Malorum, though it’s important to note that OSCAR will eventually respawn and start his patrols again. Be prepared to repeat this process if you want to keep him down for good.
