When exploring Dying Light: The Beast, you might find some safes locked without knowing the codes to unlock them. These safes hold valuable items, like powerful gear and resources that can help you along your way. Clues about the safe combinations can often be found nearby, making it easier to figure out the right code and secure the loot.
Currently, safes are usually located in specific spots—either in areas where they naturally spawn or in places you visit during missions. Typically, exploring larger buildings or zones will lead you to at least one safe, with its contents providing key items for facing dangers in that area.
List of Safe Locations and Codes in Dying Light: The Beast
There are at least seven known safes with fixed locations, each with its unique combination code. While some safes might appear randomly, these are among the most important for the items they offer. Below is a guide to each safe, where to find it, and its code:
Safe # | Location | How to Find | Combination Code |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Kitchen | Enter an abandoned house through a window early in the game. Use materials to open a locked kitchen door, then smash a picture of a dog on the wall to access the safe. | 11-14-20 |
2 | Infected Experiment Chamber | Near research stations by the chamber. Find the safe either on or under one of the stations; the code is on a whiteboard after shining a UV light on it. | 15-22-40 |
3 | Passport Office | Inside the Town Hall building, inside the Passport Office. The code matches the room numbers (e.g., 115, 116). | 11-51-16 |
4 | Last Wish Shop | Inside this shop, the real safe is on a table where a birthday party was held. The code is written on a note somewhere inside. | 20-07-06 |
5 | Hydro Puzzle Area | In the main office of the pumping station during a side quest. Find the code on an incident report note within the same space. | 27-01-06 |
6 | Life After Life Building | In the council member’s office before facing the Chimera, in the Town Hall area. | 12-25-25 |
7 | Supermarket | Outside, near a train carriage by the back offices of the supermarket. The code is on a note inside that carriage. | 65-63-35 |
Additionally, other safes may appear during the game with clues nearby. If you’re having trouble opening safes, you can try a trick to unlock their contents without requiring the actual code:
How to Open Any Safe Without Codes
If you’re using a controller with vibration feedback enabled, there’s a hidden trick. When trying to figure out the safe code, the controller will vibrate slightly differently for certain numbers. Paying close attention to these vibrations can help you identify the correct combination.
This method adds a more immersive experience compared to Dying Light 2, where you always needed the code to open safes. Still, keep in mind that the vibrations aren’t perfect—going beyond the number “50” might also produce a different vibration, which can be mistaken as the correct code.
Opening safes without codes can make it much easier to access important gear and items. Focus your exploration around safes and nearby clues, especially in key mission areas. Collecting the codes for all safes in Dying Light: The Beast will give you an advantage against tough enemies like the Chimera and help you survive in the game’s dangerous world.
