In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, there’s a book puzzle that pops up while Basim is on the hunt for his last target in the Serpent’s Nest. Since there aren’t many puzzles in this game, this one comes as a bit of a surprise. Essentially, during this mission, the target you’re after is concealed in a chamber that can only be accessed by solving a puzzle involving one of Arib’s poems.
If you’re facing challenges with this, I’ve provided a straightforward solution below to help you uncover the hidden chamber where Basim’s final target is hiding.
Book Puzzle Solution in Assassin’s Creed Mirage
In the library room during The Serpent’s Nest mission, there are four pedestals around the balcony where you can place one of the four books you have—black, blue, yellow, and white.
To solve the Assassin’s Creed Mirage book puzzle, you need to reference the poem, which highlights themes that align with the colors of the books.
- Rage in the ocean, I’ll sweeten your storms (blue)
- Scorch as the desert, I’ll bathe in your heat (yellow)
- Strike as the cobra, but plunge in my breast (black)
- Soar as the dove, but alight in my nest (white)
The bolded items above are the keys to the puzzle—though the order isn’t immediately clear. Each item clearly corresponds to a color: ocean means the blue book, desert is the yellow book, cobra refers to the black book, and dove signifies the white book.
Next, you’ll need to determine the order. If you step down to the level below and gaze back up, you can activate your Eagle Vision and see glowing images around the ceiling. Focus specifically on those above each pedestal, as highlighted below (use the arrows to navigate between images).
Using the color connections from earlier, you’ll know that—starting from the pedestal farthest from the stairs—the order is:
White (for dove)
Black (for cobra)
Yellow (for desert)
Blue (for ocean)
Arranging the books in this sequence will cause a bookcase on the lower floor to collapse, revealing a small room behind it. You can climb down the ladder to access the hidden chamber and your target. After a few cutscenes, you’ll reach the game’s somewhat perplexing finale, which is where our guide to the ending of Assassin’s Creed Mirage can assist you.
