The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered offers a wide array of weapons that can significantly enhance your gameplay. Some of these weapons provide a major boost if you acquire them early, while others may quickly become less useful as you find better options.
The Frostwyrm Bow stands out as one of the top ranged weapons in the game, especially in the initial stages. However, obtaining it can be quite tricky, particularly if you’re unsure of where to search. If you’re not actively looking for this weapon, it’s easy to miss due to its hidden location.
Where To Find The Frostwyrm Bow
To locate the Frostwyrm Bow, head to the northeast corner of the map, near Dive Rock. If you’re progressing through the main story, you can teleport to Azura’s Shrine and then travel east until you reach Aerin’s Camp.
Once there, continue heading east and then move north until Dive Rock appears on your compass. You won’t need to go inside Dive Rock, but be sure to search the area nearby until you spot a glowing frost troll.
This troll, known as Agnar the Unwavering, will be found around 100 steps east of Dive Rock, next to its corpse.
How To Fight The Uderfrykte Matron
The unique troll you’ll encounter, the Uderfrykte Matron, is a tough opponent. Avoid using fire spells or fire-enchanted weapons against it. Instead, try to gain the upper hand by engaging from a distance using a bow for a sneak attack.
Using fire spells or fire-enchanted weapons will cause the troll’s glowing energy to dissipate, rendering it nearly invisible and making the fight much more difficult.
After you defeat the troll, you can loot the Frostwyrm Bow from its remains. You’ll also discover a complete set of Fur Armor and the remains of Svenja nearby. A silver war axe can be found next to Agnar the Unwavering’s body as well.
The Frostwyrm Bow deals an extra 15 frost damage on each successful hit against foes.
While this weapon may not be as effective if acquired later in the game compared to other bows, securing it early on can make a significant difference throughout much of your adventure.
