Completing the Terra Dome Boss Challenge in Pragmata

Select Language:

As you explore different areas of the moon in Pragmata, you’ll eventually reach the Terra Dome. This space is designed to look like Earth’s lush greenery and dense plant life. To take care of such a large area, you’ll need a strong gardener, which is where the Garden Keeper boss comes into play. This boss tries to eliminate you, considering you nothing more than a pesky weed.

Where Is the Garden Keeper Fought?

The Garden Keeper fight occurs in the Terra Dome, specifically at the very end in the Terrarium zone. The battle takes place in a boss arena accessed through a hole in the ground. Be careful not to fall into the hole accidentally if you haven’t yet gone back to the Shelter to resupply. After completing the game, you can also come back to challenge the Garden Keeper again if you want a rematch.

How To Beat The Garden Keeper

The Garden Keeper is a quick and nimble opponent. It might not be as big as the Creator boss, but it has a wide attack range and moves easily around the fight area. Here’s a quick overview of its moves:

  • Shock Mines: The boss plants mines around the arena. Stepping on these will stop you for a few seconds and can set up the Trapped Tail Grab attack.
  • Trapped Tail Grab: If the boss gets close while you’re stuck in a mine, it will grab you to deal damage. You can escape this by doing a quick hacking mini-game with Diana.
  • Leaping Pincer Swipes: The boss quickly slashes at you with its pincers in a side-to-side motion. It may follow up with another swipe or an Arm Slam.
  • Arm Slam: The boss slams its arms down in front of it, covering a broad area.
  • Wide Tail Spin: Reeling back then spinning with its tail, the boss hits most of the arena. Dodge as the tail swings toward you—early dodging might still get you hit.
  • Tail Shock Explosion: The boss stabs its tail into the ground, creating a red circle that explodes after some seconds for high damage. Both the stab and explosion deal damage.
  • Lightning Strikes: When below half health, the boss stops and raises its tail, causing lightning to rain down for several seconds.
  • Aerial Tail Lasers: The boss jumps onto an unreachable wall and fires laser beams outward. This move cannot be canceled, so dodge until it finishes.
  • Missiles: Mounted on the wall, the boss fires missiles after laser volleys. You can redirect these missiles to damage the boss slightly.

The boss’s moves are available throughout the fight, but the lightning and laser attacks happen only after its health drops below half. Many of its attacks have two phases or follow-up shots, making timing your dodges crucial. Recognizing when an attack is about to land is essential because the boss’s wide-ranging attacks mean a mistimed dodge can result in a hit.

The Garden Keeper has three weak points:

  • Head: Deals the least damage.
  • Underside: Causes medium damage.
  • Tail: Causes the most damage.

Hitting any weak point deals good damage, especially when you’re close. The tail is the most vulnerable, and during certain moves like the Tail Shock Explosion, you should focus your attacks on it. The tail remains stuck in the ground for a few seconds, making it an easy target during that time.

Once the boss’s health drops below half, it expands its Hacking Matrix, adding obstacles and error nodes, which make the fight more difficult. Using weapons like the Code Generator and Sticky Bombs helps manage this stage, and the Overdrive Protocol can be useful when you’re in a pinch. Keeping your dodges well-timed makes the fight much simpler. After defeating the Garden Keeper, you’ll earn another Shelter License Key and can move on to the next sector.
