Completing the Target Lockl Catalyst for Barrow-Dyad in Destiny 2

The fourth and final Catalyst for Barrow-Dyad has now been released in Destiny 2. The Catalyst brings the Target Lock perk, which works seamlessly with one of the weapon’s Exotic perks. If you’re seeking a powerful Primary weapon for taking down single targets, this Catalyst is the one you want.

However, much like the previous Catalysts, obtaining this one will be a challenge. You’ll need to explore The Nether activity to uncover some elusive secrets before you can create the Target Lock. In this guide, we’ll highlight how to discover these secrets and explain how to begin the Target Lock Catalyst quest for Barrow-Dyad.

Catalyst Requirements

Before you can embark on the quest for the Target Lock Catalyst, you need to collect three Coalescence of the Knife consumables. Keep in mind that this item won’t show up in your inventory, so it might be tricky to track. You can obtain them from the following sources:

Complete the "Mission Dossier: Blade Logic" quest.
Locate the Hidden Cabal chest in The Hull.
Find the Hidden rune chest in The Founts.

The Mission Dossier: Blade Logic is a side quest you’ll unlock during the seasonal storyline. To begin the quest, head to the Shaping Slab, then complete the main objectives. Upon finishing, you should receive one Coalescence of the Knife.

In The Hull, there’s a hidden Cabal chest that can reward you with a Coalescence of the Knife. Navigate to the Hive pillars resembling the Scarlet Keep and approach the nearby Cabal flag. You should be able to scan a Toland Orb there. If you can’t find it, you may need to open the Hidden rune chest in The Founts or acquire Barrow-Dyad’s other Catalysts first. Use the Orb to access a hidden Cabal bunker beneath, then utilize the newly discovered code to unlock the chest.

For the Founts, you need to shoot a series of nearby Hive runes to make a hidden chest appear. From the shifting piston in the center of the room, look toward the left side for a rune code. Find and shoot the three symbols displayed on the wall. Right behind those symbols is a wall of Hive runes you can also shoot. Recreate the pattern you observed earlier to reveal the chest.

After collecting your loot, turn around and shoot the Hive rune on the pillar to open up a secret maze, which contains a small Taken Blight. Destroy that to get your Coalescence of the Knife.

How To Obtain The Target Lock Catalyst

With the required items in hand, you can now start the Catalyst quest. From the spawn area in The Hull, head to the far end of the space. You’ll come across a side room with a dormant Hive machine, similar to what you encounter in The Mausoleum and Trenchway. With three Coalescence of the Knife, you should be able to activate the portal. Open the chest on the other side to kick off the quest.

Your only task is to complete the Derealize Exotic mission while Barrow-Dyad is equipped. Playing on normal difficulty works, and you just need to have Barrow-Dyad equipped by the end of the mission to get credit. Finish the mission, and you’ll gain the ability to forge Target Lock onto Barrow-Dyad.
