Revenge of the Savage Planet dives deeper into chaotic worlds and wild creatures compared to its predecessor, Journey to the Savage Planet. Each planet brings its own vibe, packed with opportunities for exploration. You start as an explorer for Alta Interstellar but are quickly dismissed from your job. Shortly after, you connect with Martin Tweed, the ex-CEO of Kindred Aerospace.
After Alta Interstellar takes over Kindred, Martin faces forced retirement, which he struggles to accept. It’s also clear that Alta Interstellar has some questionable practices. To help Martin and dig deeper into the situation, you can take on an optional mission on the planet Xephyr called Best Served Cold. This guide provides details on how to complete it.
How to Start the Best Served Cold Quest
First, you need to accept the Roundtrip 2.0 mission to locate the Cry-o-Pods. While you’re working through the main tasks on Stellaris Prime, you’ll spot a spaceship stuck in the swamp to the south of your base.
This ship, known as the Javelin, is from the previous game and is now trapped in the swamp. After you see and scan it, you won’t be able to do much at that moment. Keep progressing through the main tasks on Stellaris Prime, then move on to the next planet, Xephyr. Upon arriving, you’ll receive a quest from Martin Tweed titled ‘Best Served Cold’.
As you approach the Cryo-pods, icons will appear on your map showing their locations. You can click on these icons to track them easily.
Taking on the Best Served Cold quest while you’re on main missions in Xephyr is a smart move and won’t eat up extra time.
If you stick with Tweed’s storyline and gather information about Alta Interstellar during your journey, you’ll unlock multiple endings. To achieve Tweed’s Revenge ending, you must find 13 pieces of hidden evidence across different planets. Each piece brings you closer to revealing the truth about Alta and completing Tweed’s mission.
Where to Find the First Cry-O-Pod
If it’s your first time on Xephyr and you’re working on the May The Fork Be With You quest, make your way towards the northern parts of the planet. Continuing north, you’ll eventually discover an area called Cactus Valley, which is located just north of the Frangipane Drifts region.
Keep exploring this area and check around the large lake to the south of Cactus Valley. To the east of that lake, nestled by the edge of a cliff, you’ll find the first Cry-o-Pod waiting to be scanned.
Where to Find the Second Cry-O-Pod
To get this Cry-o-Pod, start at the teleporter in the Great Oasis region, located in the northeastern part of Xephyr. From the teleporter, head southwest until you see the entrance to the Caves of Miranyth—a cave system that goes deep underground.
Once inside, you have two choices: either venture in and turn right, or stay outside and move to the right before going down a narrow path. Either way will lead you to a pile of debris underneath a waterfall, where the Cry-o-Pods are hidden.
Where to Find the Third Cry-O-Pod
Begin your search at the G’nortt’s High Rise teleporter on Xephyr. From your location, look directly south. You’ll see a cliff thick with vegetation. Carefully make your way to this cliff. When you arrive, you’ll spot a Fungal Generator there—a unique mushroom that emits electrical energy.
Get close to this glowing mushroom and then turn your gaze to the east. In the shaded area beneath the cliff’s overhang, you should see the Cry-o-Pod waiting for you.
Where to Find the Fourth Cry-O-Pod
To find this Cry-o-Pod, you’ll first need to return to the Caves of Miranyth, the same spot where you got the second Cry-o-Pod. Inside, you’ll face a small but significant puzzle that involves interacting with electrically charged mushrooms.
Completing this puzzle is necessary for progressing the main storyline. Just keep in mind that you’ll need the Goo Ingestor upgrade first. Once you’ve completed the electric mushroom challenge, the blocking obstacle in the cave will disappear.
From there, make your way to the teleporter and drop down carefully into the lower area. You’ll find several red flytrap plants. This section also poses a puzzle, as scanning the plants reveals they require feeding amber to move forward.
Your task is to deflect the orange projectiles shot by certain plants with the Reflect-o-matic Hand Gel, aiming them into the mouths of the red flytrap plants.
The northernmost red flytrap is obstructed by thick branches, so you must first feed two other red flytraps found in the cave with amber before you can reach that one.
While feeding the flytrap in the watery area, don’t forget to grab the Orange Goo sitting right in front of it. There’s also more Orange Goo near the Cry-o-Pod itself.
Once you’ve fed the northern red flytrap, its roots will disappear, allowing you access to the cave on its right side. After you enter that cave, turn left immediately, and you’ll find the Cry-o-Pod waiting there.
Where to Find the Fifth Cry-O-Pod
To collect this Cryo-Pod, the first thing you need is the Lava Tank upgrade. Without this crucial upgrade, you won’t be able to access the area where the Cry-o-Pod resides. Make sure to keep progressing through main missions and side quests until you obtain the Lava Tank.
After you’ve got the upgrade, teleport to the G’nortt’s High Rise region on Xephyr. From the teleporter, move east toward a cliff, where you’ll encounter a hostile pink mantis enemy guarding the area. Once you’re there, you’ll see a cave corridor close by. Enter this passage to get to a place called Stone Aerie.
Inside the corridor, there’s a unique red plant known as the Lava Dispenser. Interact with it to gather lava, necessary for continuing your journey.
At the end of the corridor, look down to find a large cobweb. Use your hose to melt the web with lava, then drop down to the lower part of the corridor. This will take you directly to the Cry-o-Pods, which you can scan.
Once you’ve tracked all the Cry-o-Pods, you’ll unlock the achievement called Toxic Positivity. Plus, when you return to the base, a strange video message from Mary K. Le Faux will be waiting for you.
