Saving Avalon from the Wyrd is a tough job, and sometimes you might need a breather. When you’re looking for a distraction, Tainted Grail: The Fall Of Avalon has plenty of side quests to take your mind off the impending doom.
One of the Keepers in the Horns of the South has a rooftop garden that needs some attention, and you’ll have to lend him a hand. He might make it tricky, but it’s a nice change from the dark atmosphere of the Wyrd, at least for a little while in Avalon.
How to Complete the Roots of the Knowledge Quest
To kick off the Pumpkin Peril quest, you’ll first need to meet Eogan on the tower in the Keepers’ stronghold. Have a chat with him about his garden to get a clue about talking to his best friend in the mess hall kitchen.
Eogan isn’t much for conversation, so it’s best to just nod and go along with what he says.
Next, head down the scaffolding from the tower and enter the building across from the Quartermaster’s office. Speak with Ruiarc to find out why Eogan seems so grumpy. Armed with that information, go back to Eogan and see how you can assist him.
He’ll give you a handful of seeds to plant in the garden. Use any of the marked gardening plots to sow the seeds, then wait about 36 hours for the mysterious plant to grow. Return to collect the herb and hand it over to Eogan.
Impressed, Eogan decides it’s time to grow something bigger. Much bigger. He’ll ask you to find pumpkin seeds in the Horns of the South, which might be trickier than it sounds.
Where to Get Pumpkin Seeds
Pumpkin seeds aren’t available at just any shop. You’ll need to head northeast from the fort, past an abandoned village. Your destination is a small farm called Roscree, located west of the All-Mother Temple from the Shadows of the Horns quest.
Fast travel there at night, during the Wyrd hours, to find two skeletons tending to the farm. Talk to the Jolly Skeleton on the right to purchase crops from him. He acts like a regular vendor but also has pumpkin seeds for 80 gold.
If the skeletons aren’t around, try fast traveling back to the keep and then returning to Roscree to refresh the area.
What Happens After You Plant the Seeds?
When you give the seeds to Eogan, you have a chance to warn him about the strange way you acquired them. After all, most people aren’t immune to the effects of the Wyrd. However, Eogan will brush off your concerns and plant the seeds anyway.
Check back in a day or two to find a fully grown Wyrd pumpkin! You’ll know it’s there because you’ll start taking damage in the garden without any visible threats.
The only way to stop the damage is to smash the pumpkin. If you look closely, you’ll see Eogan slumped over in the back. It seems he didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late.
You won’t have anything else to do here, but feel free to use the garden if you find any other seeds along the way!
