Completing the Galdur Pup Pet Quest in Palia: A Guide to Solving

As you dive into the world of Palia, filled with mining, hunting, foraging, and bug-catching, you’ll quickly notice that your backpack fills up in no time. Even after fully upgrading your backpack with Zeki, your inventory will soon overflow, forcing you to head back to your plot to offload your treasures.

But things don’t have to be so cumbersome! By completing the Nurture of Shadows Quest and its related tasks, you can unlock a brand-new pet and the ability for your pet to act as a courier. Once you’ve finished this questline, your pet can transport items back to your plot for you, allowing for more uninterrupted exploration.

How to Begin the Nurture of Shadows Quest

Behind the Elderwood Stables’ fast travel board, you’ll find a small echo blob in one of the empty stalls. Interact with it to kick off the quest Hexomancy 101.

When you seek help from Tamala to cleanse a cursed object you discovered, she will first ask you to prove your capability with magical items. To do this, you need to present her with at least one fully upgraded relic at level four.

Completing Hexomancy 101 will lead you to The Nurture of Shadows.

How to Lift the Curse from the Object

The first task in The Nurture of Shadows is to create a charm that will cleanse the object of its curse. For this, you will need:

• 1 Soon Tofu (Get the recipe from Reth after reaching Cooking Level 6)
• 1 Midnight Floatfish
• 1 Elderflower
• 3 Cave Piksii

Once you provide Tamala with these items, she will give you the recipe for a Whitestone Votive. Next, you’ll need materials for a ritual to remove the curse.

Now you need:

• 10 Whitestone Votive (each votive requires 1 Whitestone Slab, 1 Plant Fiber, and 1 Batterfly Bean)
• 3,500 Infected Essence
• 3 Ancient Koi
• 15 Floatfish Mushroom

After assembling all the materials, return to Tamala. She will instruct you to arrange the candles around the cursed object. Then, she’ll perform the ritual to draw the essence into the mushrooms you’ve gathered.

Once the ritual is complete and the curse is lifted, you’ll be left with a broken-down Galdur pup that doesn’t respond. Tamala will suggest visiting the Temple of the Roots to ask The Gardener for assistance.

How to Revive the Galdur Pup

The Temple of the Roots is located in the northern area of Bahari Bay. Head inside, and take the flowstone gates directly to The Gardener.

Inform the Gardener about the Galdur pup, and you will receive the Flow hub. Return to Elderwood Stables, place the hub beside the pup, and then communicate with The Gardener through it.

The Gardener will request several materials to fix the pup:

• 2 Platinum Bars
• 5 Palium Bars
• 1 Citrine
• 30 Flow-Infused Wood

Once you’ve gathered everything needed, return to the Galdur pup and talk to The Gardener again. The repairs will leave the pup still unresponsive, and The Gardener will run diagnostics, then tell you to return the hub to the temple.

When you arrive back at the temple with the hub, The Gardener reveals that the Galdur pup is actually a creature living inside the chassis, but unfortunately, The Gardener won’t assist you further.

Report back to Tamala about the conversation with The Gardener. She will suggest that the creature might just need reassurance that it’s safe. She’ll advise you to inquire around the village for ideas on what comforts them.

Travel to Kilima Village and chat with Jel, Badruu, and Einar. Each will share what they find comforting: silk, Delaila’s cooking, and fish.

You’ll need to gather the following items and place them around the pup:

• 3 Elderwood Lotus
• 1 Umbraan Betta
• 1 Elderwood Pie
• 4 Silk

After a short wait, the little Echoling using the Galdur pup form will briefly appear to greet you before returning to the chassis and coming to life. Congrats, you now have a new pet!
