Sultan’s Game boasts an impressive array of endings, featuring more than a hundred variations based on the path you choose and the decisions you make throughout your journey. The endings fall into five main categories, but there is significant variety within each category, as well as a range of game-over scenarios to explore.
Whether you aim to assassinate the sultan and seize power or simply to survive the game, you must proceed with caution and patience. What remains undiscovered in one life may become clear in your next attempt.
All Endings to Sultan’s Game
Along with numerous ways to achieve victory, there are many ways to fail, making these different outcomes the bulk of the unique endings. Most of the failures revolve around facing execution by the Sultan or dying while trying to fulfill a task.
- If you don’t resolve a task before the time limit, you’ll be executed.
- Starting a duel or military campaign and failing to show up to the scheduled event will lead to the Sultan’s wrath.
- Presenting a card related to passion to the Sultan’s Consort and not completing the subsequent quest results in death.
- Losing a duel will also lead to your demise.
- If you show the Sultan a conquest card, you’ll be instantly killed. For tips on using it against him, see the rebellion ending.
Here are some more unique failure scenarios:
- If you found a cult and your wife resents you, she could use you as a blood sacrifice.
- Attempting mountain climbing with no survival points will result in your death in the wilderness.
- You can pay a prostitute named Jalila to end your life in an unusual event.
- Certain events may force your character into assassination attempts, leading to death if you fail.
- Presenting the Sultan with a conviction card, like "intent to rebel," results in immediate execution—strangely satisfying to try at least once.
- If you conspire with your rival to assassinate the Vizier, you’ll inherit his title, opening up new mechanics that could lead to your downfall through political or economic mismanagement.
The Game Is Not Over: The Default Ending
This ending occurs when you complete all tasks without achieving another outcome. It feels almost like a defeat, as you are left with time but no other victories.
Since the order of the challenges is random, the best strategy is to simply play the game regularly. You can still pursue other endings and use this one as a backup if you can’t unlock the others in a timely manner.
The major hurdles in this playthrough come from the gold tier cards, each requiring advanced solutions you won’t access until later in the game.
Golden Card | Solution |
---|---|
Carnality | Utilize the gold carnality card on the Sultan’s gold consort. To complete the quest, you will need: a treasure item (the clockwork bird for 30 coins is an easy choice), a golden charisma item, and 30 gold coins. |
Extravagance | The easiest to tackle. If you delay any home renovations until you draw the gold card, you can give it to Methinks for an event that remodels your home, costing 20 gold but significantly increasing your income. You can also break a golden extravagance card during the golden bird event. |
Bloodshed | Apply the gold bloodshed card to any gold-tier characters you meet. The Vizier is the simplest target to take out; progressing his quest grants regular private meetings to use the card, while using it in the Sultan’s court mandates you win a duel against his bodyguards. Gold-tier companions can also appear during quests. |
Conquest | The toughest challenge. Shuffle it back into the deck whenever possible, and attend enough church blessings to unlock a single card purification. Destroying the golden conquest card simplifies the remainder of the deck. |
Once you’ve tackled the four main obstacles, your remaining tasks will yield variations on the ending. Your choices and character stats will significantly affect the outcomes.
Distant Paradise: The Escape Ending
This ending is achievable by choosing to escape the game. Early on, your wife may suggest running away together, prompting a new quest outlined on the map. You’ll need two elements to embark on this quest:
- A way to bypass the city walls.
- A safe destination out of the Sultan’s control.
Both components can be obtained through other quests, so there may be multiple options available.
The most straightforward escape method involves using a bomb or drill crafted by Mahir during her research quests. Not all her inventions lead to escape, but you can rewind the day if you don’t get what you want. Alternatively, steal aether from the church to fund more research projects.
If Mahir is unavailable, you can pursue the Sultan’s Silver Consort’s questline. While this path is more challenging, she may provide you with the token necessary to open the gates.
Escape destinations are limited to two options, either China or the Distant Oasis, each offering different completion variations.
- The Distant Oasis can be found in books. Visit the bookstore until they’re sold out, then seek it out through bookstore quests or the fence upgrade in the destiny store. Look for the "Endless Sands" book, and complete an expedition quest after reading it to discover the oasis.
- For Minal’s quest, you must repeatedly sponsor her expeditions and equip her companions with the skills needed to explore new territories. After her third expedition, she will leave your company and later send you a letter detailing her escape to China along with the location card.
With your escape strategy and final destination prepared, you can initiate the escape quest at any time. Ensure you only carry one Sultan card when commencing your escape. Take note, as you’ll need to resolve this card as part of the climax. When planning a getaway, you can:
- Bring companions who have the Bond of Fate, which your wife automatically possesses and other companions can earn through quest advancements.
- Prepare for each follower you bring, requiring a day and ten coins worth of supplies. You’ll gain extra preparation time based on your reputation, but once your reputation wanes, you’ll need to start sacrificing followers to extend your timeline.
As you initiate the escape, discard your final Sultan card. Remember it, because you’ll need to deal with it before you can escape. Players have reported that surrendering your wealth and supplies is necessary for extravagance cards during your getaway, while bloodshed and conquest cards demand you sacrifice your remaining allies.
New Banner: The Revolution Ending
This ending requires a focused strategy, but it’s rewarding.
- Your aim is to overthrow the Sultan.
- Cultivate an atmosphere of fear against the Sultan and spread this among NPCs until you can combine it with a gold-tier card.
- Alternatively, you can opt for a gold conquest card instead.
Preparing for this ending is crucial. Use the conquest card sparingly, shuffling it back into your deck until your plans are solidified. A gold conviction card will take time to create, giving you the chance to prepare adequately.
Preparations | How To Obtain Them |
---|---|
Troops | Riel’s questline proves invaluable for recruiting troops. An event may injure her at night. Treat her injuries with medicinal herbs from Snake Valley or the Waters of Life from Mahir’s research. Following her recovery, she can start liberating slaves and gathering troops during the revolution. |
Duelists | You need four capable combatants to match the Sultan’s royal guards effectively. Ensure each has at least 25 points of physique and combat. These duelists can lead your troops effectively. |
Magicians | Because the Sultan’s magic ring is a substantial threat, you’ll need a total of 20 points of magic among three followers to counter the spell. Lumera, the orphan, is swift at learning magic and has no requirements. Badriyyah, a cultist, starts with the highest magic score of your followers. The Shadow Compass accessory can grant +5 to any character’s magic. |
Personal Strength | You face off against the Sultan solo, aside from specific companions. Strive to recruit the Unnamed gold Mercenary who may appear during random events. A combined physique and combat score of 40 will allow you to defeat the Sultan in a duel. |
Each variation of this ending manifests as you defeat the Sultan, allowing you to appoint new leadership or choose to go into voluntary exile, involving nearly every remaining character in that scene.
Additional events can facilitate the final combat day:
- Persuade the four royal guards to turn against the Sultan. The easiest to sway is Jabal; defeat him in a hunting challenge or blackmail him into joining your ranks. The other guards are tougher to convince and may defect back to the Sultan even if they join you.
- The Sultan’s Ring can be stolen or countered with Divine Power.
- Hassan’s gold-level poem, "Providence," allows you to instantly flip one of the Sultan’s troops onto your side, making it most effective against a gold-tier troop.
Descent of the Gods: The Insight Ending
This ending materializes only after acquiring the "Glimpse of God" upgrade in the fate store. It significantly raises the challenge level and is best attempted after completing other victories.
Upgrading your divine cards requires infusing them with piety. Drag your faith card to Methinks, which leads to an event allowing you to consolidate three piety from yourself and your followers.
Once upgraded sufficiently, a questline unlocks, requiring four characters with diverse abilities in magic, wisdom, combat, and physique. Combat and physique followers are easy to find, making magic and wisdom the more challenging aspects to cover.
From this point, the game offers various events for introspection involving Mind Battles, where you strategically use characters and conviction cards based on their alignment with fate, whether accepting or rebelling against it.
Your journey through Sultan’s Game is rich with possibilities, ensuring each playthrough brings unique challenges and endings depending on the paths you take and the decisions you make.
