If you’re looking for the right job for your Sim in The Sims 2, the solution might be simpler than you think. Instead of spending hours developing various skills and trying to maintain family relationships, consider the Slacker career for an easier path.
While it’s not the top career choice, the Slacker path is ideal for lazy Sims or those needing quick cash without sacrificing other priorities. We’ll guide you through getting started in this career and how to quickly move up the ranks. You might find it more fun and rewarding than you expect!
Slacker Career Track
Need a job but prefer not to commit too much time or effort? The Slacker career offers short hours and decent pay, making it perfect for Sims who’d rather avoid the typical 9-to-5 grind. Your Sim will need skills ranging from Charisma to Creativity, so plan on soaking up life experiences to thrive.
The Slacker career path consists of full-time and part-time positions. Here’s a breakdown of the available roles and what it takes to get promoted:
-
Adult Slacker Career Track
Full-time work can feel tedious for most adults, but in the Slacker career, your shifts are much shorter. There are ten positions available, ranging from golf caddy to professional party guest. Here’s a look at the jobs adults can pursue in the Slacker career:

Teen and Elder Slacker Career Track
Slacking isn’t only for adults. Teens and elders can also take it easy at work. There are fewer positions available on this shorter path, but it provides a comfy income for the effort required. Your Sim can search for job openings via a newspaper or computer. Here’s what teens and elders can do in the Slacker career:
Teens need to maintain grades of ‘C’ or higher to be eligible for a part-time job.
Slacker Career Reward
The effort your Sim puts into this career offers more than just simoleons. Once they achieve rank five, they’ll unlock the Aquagreen Hydroponic Garden. This special item allows your Sim to boost their Creativity skill while growing unique plants.
Although these plants take several days to mature, once they’re ready, they can be sold for a nice profit or used for decoration. This item can only be earned once per Sim in the career, but if your Sim is laid off or resigns, they can return to the career to earn it again.
Male Sims who are somewhat messy and playful can “water” the plants to satisfy their bladder need.
Kids can’t plant the seeds because of their height, but they can help tend the plants once an adult gets them started. This allows families to develop skills early on, which will be beneficial as they grow into well-rounded adults.
