In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, players will discover a variety of side quests while navigating through different regions. Each quest, regardless of size, enriches the overall narrative and character development, such as the Godai Shinobi quest.
Your mission involves tracking down and defeating five members of the Godai Shinobi scattered across various locations. For each member you take down, you’ll earn a reward. Once you’ve eliminated all five, a final reward awaits, making it an ideal chance to try out the guaranteed assassination feature in AC Shadows, if you haven’t done so already.
The Godai Of Void Location & Rewards
Locate the Godai Of Void near Goshiki Outlands in Omi
This quest not only offers Mon rewards but also grants legendary treasures. Use your map to find each member’s location. To start the quest, a new objective will show up in your Objective tab. Located near the Odani Destroyed Tenshu in Omi, the Godai of Void has a hideout in the eastern Goshiki Outlands.
Not far from the Daikichiji Temple in northeast Nagahama, you’ll eventually find a cave where the Godai of Void sits beside some crates to your left. Sneaking up can be a bit tricky due to environmental factors; however, even if you fail to perform a stealthy kill, you can still defeat him through combat. Just remember that you’ll still earn rewards even if you don’t execute a successful assassination. Don’t forget to check south for one of the hidden trails within Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

The Godai Of Wind Location & Rewards
Find the Godai Of Wind in the Shimagahara Valley in Iga
While details about the Godai of Wind may be limited, you’ll realize he’s located within the Iga region, specifically in the Shimagahara Valley next to Otogi Pass, west of Mibuno Vale. He’ll have a small camp set up against the backdrop of a cliff.
Rather than approaching him directly down the main path, consider climbing up behind the cliff and dropping down to complete your assassination. Failing this stealth attack doesn’t mean you cannot defeat him, and you will still receive rewards afterward.

The Godai Of Earth Location & Rewards
Find the Godai Of Earth Near the Otaniinary Shrine in Iga
To track down the Godai of Earth, head northeast of Kuroda Village to central Hijiyama, just north of it, and east of Little Leaf Glade, near the Otaniinary Shrine. As you descend the stone steps towards the shrine, you’ll catch sight of the Godai of Earth chopping wood. Stealthily eliminating him from behind should prove straightforward, and once defeated, you’ll receive several rewards.

The Godai Of Fire Location & Rewards
Find the Godai Of Fire Near Mount Hiei in Omi
In the Omi Region, seek the Godai of Fire in the northwestern section of Mount Hiei. He’s said to linger near a burning pagoda. Proceed down the path, and you’ll find him seated next to a fire with an old wagon and crates.
For a successful assassination, approach while avoiding the main path; instead, flank from the left side. Like the others, should your assassination attempt fail, you can still engage him in a fight and collect your rewards after defeating him.

The Godai Of Water Location & Rewards
Find the Godai Of Water in a swamp in Omi
Near Lake Biwa, north of Sakamoto, the Godai of Water can be found in a swamp close to Mangetsuji Temple. This character, named Mizu, is one of Shotei’s former students. Depending on the time of day, she may be spotted sitting on a rock, writing, allowing for an easier stealth takedown.
As you approach, you’ll see dead bodies scattered around. One of these corpses will have an invitation for Mizu from Rokkaku Yoshimitsu, indicating she’s part of a conspiracy against her former master, Shotei. This suggests that if you don’t eliminate all the Godai, Shotei might meet a grim fate.
If you’re unsuccessful in your assassination attempt, you can engage her directly in combat. Expect her to be tough to defeat. Depending on the order in which you take out the Godai, defeating her may complete this side quest, with various rewards for your efforts.

Final Rewards Upon Completing the Godai Quest
After successfully completing your final assassination in the Godai Quest, your next step is to find Shotei, located at his residence in Koga, specifically near The Shimmering Fields. When you inform him that his former students have been eliminated, he will reward you generously.

The quest does emphasize the need for each Godai’s assassination, but it appears there’s no major consequence for failing the assassination itself, as long as you defeat each former student. So, you can still enjoy the rewards for every completion in Assassin’s Creed Shadows.
