Monster Train 2 has expanded significantly from its predecessor, now featuring six new clans: the Banished, Pyreborne, Luna Coven, Underlegion, and Lazarus League. This addition results in a staggering 180 potential combinations of clans. One of the toughest challenges in the game is to conquer Covenant 10 with all these combinations.
As we explore which clan holds the most power, we’ve experimented with numerous combinations. Each clan offers unique strengths and weaknesses, and this complexity grows with the vast array of combos. Below is our current ranking of the clans we find most effective.
S-Tier: Underlegion
At the top of our list is the Underlegion, a clan that undeniably shines. Their champion options, Bolete the Guillotine and Madame Lionsmane, set the stage for powerful strategies. We find Bolete particularly fun due to his permanent Rally buffs, which amplify Attack and HP, leading to exceptional gameplay when focusing on a Funguy rally build.
The Underlegion specializes in summoning units and overpowering foes with tactics like trample, spikes, and decay. Boost your Puffball card, and you’ll be equipped to handle even the toughest bosses at Covenant 10.
A-Tier: Strong Competitors
Moving down the ranks, we encounter the amazing Luna Coven, whose unique moon phasing mechanic allows for impressive spell buffs that can quickly take down enemy units. Pair their spellcasters with some sturdy frontliners for a balanced approach.
Next up is the Banished clan. A simple yet effective strategy involves using Shift and Shift Enablers with Fel, their champion. By stacking the Valor ability, you enhance combat skills while gaining regenerative armor, allowing Fel to take on even the toughest opponents solo.
B-Tier: Versatile Strategies
The Lazarus League is all about crafting potions that can revive your units or debilitate enemies through sap and decay. While they can be quite powerful, mastering their mechanics takes some practice.
In the Pyreborne clan, utilizing the Dragon Hoard combined with the Greed Dragon can create a nearly unstoppable force. This clan pairs exceptionally well with melee-oriented clans like the Banished for effective synergy.
The Awoken clan shines when used alongside Luna Coven, as their healing spells create fantastic synergies, particularly with larger units like the Awoken Hollow.
The Melting Remnant clan focuses on their Burnout mechanic, allowing for repeated unit summoning that, when used with unit buffs, forms powerful combinations.
C-Tier: Needs Fine-Tuning
These clans can still perform well, but require more careful planning. The Hellhorned clan showcases interesting mechanics but often feels underpowered. Their Imps serve as small, cost-effective units that can be summoned frequently, while the Hidden Passage card allows for tactical movement among your train’s floors.
Lastly, the Stygian Guard offers a few fun cards that can silence enemy abilities, simplifying boss fights. However, their Frostbite mechanics can feel lackluster compared to decay and sap strategies.
In summary, each clan in Monster Train 2 has its strengths and weaknesses. The best strategies often arise from creative combinations and understanding the nuances of each clan. Happy gaming!
