Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 fans are in for a new challenge as they explore the fresh Verso’s Drafts area, part of the free DLC update. One of the most controversial and disliked features in the game has always been its various Gestral Game challenges.
The notorious Gestral Games make their return in the latest “Thank You” update of Clair Obscur, which unlocks when you enter Verso’s Drafts. If you’ve never been a fan of the over-the-top and nightmarish Gestral ascension tower or the tricky beach volleyball challenge, brace yourself for a new headache: Gestral Diving.
### Gestral Games Are Back in Verso’s Drafts
And They’re Just As Frustrating as Always
This new map, included as part of the free “Thank You” update celebrating Clair Obscur’s Game of the Year win, features a large area full of new enemies, better weapon options, new Pictos and Luminas, and a whole bunch of new mini-games called Gestral challenges.
Most of these challenges are fairly easy, but one stands out as especially tough: the Gestral Diving challenge. Located at the Gestral Resort, it involves interacting with a half-baked Gestral waiting on the diving board. You’ll need to clear the line by launching him with a melee attack, then use the new Monoco weapon, Esquiaro, to jump off the diving board. At the bottom, another Gestral will judge your dives, and you can talk to it afterward to get your rewards.
### How to Win the Gestral Diving Competition
Collect Rewards After Each Dive
The goal is simple: jump off the diving board and land inside one of three hoops at the pool’s bottom. There’s a large yellow raft, a medium-sized blue one, and a tiny red raft. Landing in the red raft is very difficult but worth the effort, while the other two are easier and require less tries.
Successfully landing in the yellow raft earns you a Lumina color, and hitting the blue raft rewards Maelle’s new Double Bun hairstyle. The red raft is the hardest and needs precise timing—you’ll have to run and leap slightly to the left at the last moment. It may take many tries, and it definitely took me longer than I’d like to admit. If you manage to land in the red target, you’ll unlock a rather underwhelming new outfit for Monoco, which is pretty typical for Gestral challenges. These mini-games are known for being frustrating, and the rewards are mostly cosmetic. Whether it’s worth the effort is up to you.
